Re: Dangers of downgrading after installing GPS radio (and a little on signing)

Ok wow.....i am confused as hell. I just picked up a Verion xv6900 radio version 1.60.30
Model No. Vogu100.

Now I have a little experience in flashing since i been doing it with the Hermes phone that i had and now with my Kaiser. I was under the impression that the radio is able to be changed according to the ROM. Is it different with the vogue? I have been searching threads and i have 4-5 different windows open trying ot figure it out. Please help.

You need 3.XX Radio for GPS, re-read the first post.
Then reconsider the GPS to non-GPS downgrade (if you should ever need to take it in for warranty, exchange, etc) and upgrade anyway, one way is by using the latest sprint ROM w/ out running customizations of course (soft reset b4 they start) and then put your custom rom or you could upgrade via SD Card but whichever method you choose, before you start, install iMcOkEmAn unlocker:

so verizon customer service approved me for getting a new 6900. so before going to the store, I tried flashing the original rom back on to my phone. Phone was messed up afterwards... it would either run for a few seconds and reboot or run, however, when you press the power key, it would turn off.

with my experience.. I just did it real quick, however, im pretty sure I did it as correct as we know for now.... and it didn't work for me.

So, I have the Coke 2.31 bootloader on my phone, but I am running a the new stock Sprint ROM. I am having some issues with my mini USB port when it comes to charging/syncing my phone and I want to take it in to get repaired/replaced. Would they look at the bootloader? Also, has anyone found a safe way to revert back to a stock bootloader so I dont get in trouble when taking my phone in for repairs?

safe is a relative term around here... :D

here is where you can obtain the .40 bootloader. this bootloader is deemed dangerous because it doesnt prevent you from overwriting it w/ say the stock bootloader (or something that could really :cussing: your phone up) so basically if you flash .40 then flash the stock GPS rom, you should be at factory (minus any radio tweeks you may have done, but that's another story)

are you sure this will fix my phone if I go by your directions? I just want to return it and get my phone swapped with no problems. I use this phone to browse the net on my PC more then anything else even talking.

Sorry for the dumb question, but if I have the 2.31 SPL and the 3.xx radio, is there any danger to loading a stock Sprint ROM? Will that overwrite either the SPL or the radio? Thanks!

You can install the sprint GPS stock ROM no problem. 2.31 SPL is protected from being overwrote.

I have a verizon touch with stock rom (radio 1.60). I want to flash my xv6900 with a GPS enabled rom (radio 3.42...) for obvious reasons. I was waiting for an official upgrade from verizon so that if I have to return the phone, I can flash it with the official rom. Now, There is a new verizon 'leaked' rom. They say it is radio 3.37 but without GPS. Will I be able to downgrade to this 3.37 non GPS radio rom after I've flashed the phone with a 3.42 GPS enabled rom?
