If I knew how to do I would, if and admin could rename it for me I would appreciate it. Maybe call it "Updated GPS drivers"

Official Updated GPS Drivers :)

Try PMing mods or perhaps start a new one (with Official in name and request for Sticky in subject) and maintain that one with a link to this one.

It's a valuable thread.

In layman's terms. Can someone explain what is happening to the COM port that is trying to search for a GPS signal>?
I notice in GPS Viewer it is trying to find the sattelites but never locks on them.

Thanks

Re: Updated GPS Drivers (Possible Fix For Standby Issues)

First off, a quick observation.
When I first opened this thread, I saw another long post about GPS, and some files attached, but not 1 thanks on the 1st thread. That made me think it was not going to work, except for a placebo affect on the OP. I was wrong.

I read about half this thread, and then I stopped. (My head hurts from reading GPS threads.)
Bottom line, I installed the dll's from the first post, and I already had GPSKickstart installed.
I reset, and got a signal right away. That hasn't happened before.
This is working for me. Thanks. (Thanks as in, I actually hit the "Thanks" link in the first post.)

A lot of people seem to benefit from this info. Let's all go to the 1st post and hit the "Thanks" link. That will help new readers see that it's actually doing something.

can i just place the dll files on my device? or do i need to build a rom? I try to copy them and it won't let me because of permission errors..

i think this should be the most viable solution rather than a today plugin or application to kick it off. I have a feeling when sprint releases(hahahah!!) their gps rom they'll be including a comm manager button for gps.

kickstart doesn't turn GPS on, it turns on the service and drivers that GPS is accessed through.
