Re: GPS & standby mode

I've tried this out using the cabbed up drivers/kickstart... and now I can not get a lock at all. Prior to this i could consistently get a lock after a soft reset. Now after several tries it is only finding 2 satellites and not getting a lock on them in GPSgate, and all other GPS apps just try to find satellites.

Hmm, that's the same thing that happened to me. Anyone else have this problem?

You need a program to prime the GPS first then it will lock, not sure if gpsgate primes the GPS. I am currently using Chartcross GPS test, as soon as I run it, it finds a GPS signal.

I will be trying later on to figure why the programs can not prime the GPS device.

I'm not sure if its related to this or just coincidence, but I'm still getting those annoying calnot.exe and errors when coming out of standby. I'm using Ghetto's ROM with the 3.35 radio.

I might hard reset or try a different ROM, but so far these drivers and kickstart seem to work for me.

mindfrost82,

I received a few similar errors as well today, but that was after a soft reset first time it happened to me, and I am running OMJ rom with 3.37 radio. By the way is Google maps getting a GPS lock for you without priming it first?

Believe it or not, I started getting the same errors after I installed the previous version of the kickstart program. It finally got to a stage where I would soft reset my phone and all these errors would pop up and freeze my phone, and my phone would then reset itself! My phone became completely unusable. I ended up flashing a new rom. I am going to hold off on installing these files for now.

Has anyone tried GPSTODAY? I'm using it as a GPS toggle and primer. It also has a number of setttings that let you customize to your taste.

An example of that is "Keep device awake when running in Persistent mode" which seems to be a complaint about the other apps.

I think its related to being in an area with low service. At home and work its usually ok and I don't see those errors, but last night I was in a place where my phone went to roam for a little bit, and when it had sprint service it wasn't that great...then i noticed those errors. I'm not sure if its even related to GPS at all.

And yeah, I can use Google maps without priming GPS first. If I'm outside, it might take Google Maps up to 5 minutes to get a lock if I haven't used it in a while, but atleast it works.
