Has anyone figured out how to make the GPS work good enough to be a viable solution for navigation?

I find it to be a roll of the dice as to whether or not I EVER get a lock. Sometimes it's 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes, or never... I have tried three different radios, about 6 different ROMS, and every driver/reg/primer/setting I could throw at the problem. At best, this is still a gimmick. When compared side-by-side with a real GPS unit like my TomTom, it's a joke. I really want this to work!

Check your PRI if its 1.XX, this is your problem. (just come back from numerous TomTom usage, 8-10 sat in 10-20 sec.)

Well, I found out that my leaked Sprint ROM never actually upgraded my PRI, like you mentioned, so I found the PPST cab floating around. Now I am at 2.03_003

Works pretty great now. I might have to install the VIRSER_GPS.dll if I want it to work while my phone is in stand-by, right? I am using the 3.02 kitchen, and I don't know if it can even utilize that driver though...

No doubt, that your problem!

Load the leaked Sprint, let it run all the way includes customize.
Then run the ppst.exe, make sure your pri been upgrade and then you can load any rom you like.

opps just show your next post.

I am on Sprint. Will there be any benefit for me if I update to the latest Leaked ROM/Radio and run PST.exe and then flash back to an the GPS test ROM, which is based off the Alltel release?

Will the PRI update work on Verizon xv6900 devices? If so, will it wipe out the epst data so that I should back it all up first?

Thanks!

I have been playing around with a few registry settings, and now I am getting some weird result. Using Garmin Mobile XT and switching to satellite view, it shows all 12 satellites, at minimal strength which it never did before. Though once it starts picking up a satellite signal reverts back to the number of satellites viewed revert back to normal. Below is the registry settings I made.
The IP ADDRESS & PORT # are specific to SPRINT, it may work with other carriers or it may not. If no sure what your carriers IP, or port address are just leave those lines out.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS]

"EnableAGPS"=dword:00000001
"GPSMode"=dword:00000004
"ServerIP"="68.28.31.49"
"ServerPort"=dword:00001399
"EnableGPSSmartMode"=dword:00000001
"QosPerformance"=dword:00000059
"QoSAccuracy"=dword:00000032
"TimeBetweenFixes"=dword:00000001
"NumberFixes"=dword:3b9ac9ff

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction \CDMA]
"GPSOneSetting"=dword:00000001

Remember after you import the registry settings wait a little bit before you do a soft reset, because the settings will not be saved. I screwed up the first time and did not wait just did a soft reset and after boot up I rechecked the registry settings and it reverted back to the original settings.

Hey just wondering what that gpsonesetting does?

cheers

I have been looking for something like that for a while now with no luck at all. Where did you find it?
