Re: Unbricking Vogue / and downgrading SPL
I want to chime in that while this process worked for my Sprint touch, if I turn off the phone, as in press the power button once, it no longer comes back on.
I've got to hard reset it, but as long as I don't turn the power off (I think I mean turn the screen off), it will work. I don't know if that is strange or not. |

Re: Unbricking Vogue / and downgrading SPL
The Bad News: My Touch is trashed. I tried all the bootloader tricks, all the system tricks, everything I could think of. No matter what I did I ended up with Coke 2.31 as a bootloader. As far as the system...at least I could turn the phone on and off with the Alltel rom. With anything else, turning it off was a death sentence. If I reset with the power applied, it would boot into the system. Without power, it would go to the bootloader and that was the end of that. Finally, plugging it into a USB port would bring up the "No idea what you just plugged in" message from the computer. After three days of this, I finally had enough and took it to the Sprint store to either get it fixed or, if they laughed at me and told me to hit the road, get a new phone.
The Good News: The guy at the Sprint store (and repair center) looked at the phone and said it didn't look like there was any water damage (there wasn't) and if that's the case, it should cost $35 and a couple of days to replace it. Done. And I don't even have insurance. To be fair, something did happen to it a couple of days ago. I was sitting in a baseball stadium and the temperature was in the mid 90's when I felt it reset in my shirt pocket. It was trashed after that. The Lesson Learned: Amazingly enough, kudos to Sprint! If I spend less than $400, I'll be happy. If I actually get away with spending $35 and get a new phone out of the deal, it'll be a great day! And after this debacle, I'm done with custom and "leaked" roms. I needed a working phone more than I needed a new one, even at $35, and now I'm phoneless for 2-5 days. I'll leave the custom stuff for those who don't actually use the phone. |

Re: Unbricking Vogue / and downgrading SPL
Follow-up: Just got back from the repair center with the new Touch in hand. The guy turned on the old phone to pull off the contacts and stuff (which it didn't need anyway) and it got as far as the tricolor screen with that $&^#ing "2.31 Coke" on it. All he said was "That's weird" and then we talked about last night's Phillies game. $37.50 later, I was on my way. He even made sure data and everything worked before I left. No insurance, nothing. Thanks Sprint!

ok guys i need help,
this is what i did .. all from the rev a tutorial stock sprint imcoke unlocker 2.31 alltel upgrade all was fine at that point . but... then ... i attempted to upgrade to the titan radio and couldnt download it .. becasue link was dead. i then saw that there was a sprint radio 3.37.15 so i tried to upgrade it and for some reason the upgrade didint work .. so i thought that if i started from the begining i could maybe skip the alltel and go straight to the sprint 3.37.15 radio, i started looking at the downgrading forun, it said to go back to imcoke unlocker 40 and then install the defailt sprint rom. so i tred that and when it booted it got stuck at the htc screen. more reading.. i then tried to go back to the 2.31 .. no go ... then i tried to go back to the alltel rom and then got stuck in the rgb screen with some weird radio , didint say 2.31 or .40 it was like 2.001 or somthing ... more reading ... used mttty and did the format thing to it and now im stuck back at the htc screen again . spl on the rgb screen is vogu100 > spl- 2.01.0000 > cpld-3 when i boot its showing a the following : mo3 p dcaaxam-4350 h31b90a106 r 3.37.10 d 1.12 i know i should be bad fun of , im a dumb a** but i need step by step help ive read through this board but im confused how to get back to normal also if i take this to the sprint service will they be able to get this back to normal even if they charge me i dont care ... like can they reformat this or somthing ? |

Re: Unbricking Vogue / and downgrading SPL
I really wish that line wasn't in dharvey's sticky i've gotten so many PMs about this kind of issue which comes from reverting to older bootloaders. If you have a sprint touch just run the exe again. The flash takes forever and resets the device a few times but just walk away and wait to see what the ruu says. If the ruu isn't happy you can extract the exe with winrar and take the biggest nbh rename to VOGUIMG.nbh and place on fat32 storage card.
If you don't have a sprint device i have a fix that is about ready for testing that should work if you have the sprint test rom's radio as it looks like you do, but unfortunately still no fix for the alltel radio users without a carrier shipped rom. Still looking though.
