Re: New Alltel Rom?
I have been following along since page 2 and have read this entire thread. I see that people have made progress getting GPS working on the Alltel Vogue which I know just got the Rev A. update.
My question: Has there been any real progress getting any of this to work on any other carrier-branded Vogues? |
Re: New Alltel Rom?
this might be a noob question... but is this the type of GPS that is found free on Original GPS (Garmin Nuvi, TomTom etc.) devices where, you dont have to pay? or is it using Data which will show up on ur bill and make u pay each time you use it?

Re: New Alltel Rom?
I would say until we get the bootloader unlocked and can flash the bootloader/radio, we will not be able to port to other carriers.

Re: New Alltel Rom?
Brave testers check out the unlocker thread. I posted version 2.31 unlocker. It will allow a flash of the alltel EXE without bricking a non alltel vogue. It protects against SPL overwrites unlike my previous 0.40 unlocker, but it is only compatible with 3.xx roms (the alltel EXE at this point).
I'd have a better write up for you if i had my phone, but at this point i'd only recommend this for experienced users, and hopefully one that would like to do a write up ;) Here's the thread for those that don't like browsing to the sticky: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370 Enjoy! |

I am brave as I have an upstage I can use if I brick my touch and if it happens it happens... The phone is getting beat up anyway. |

Re: New Alltel Rom?
Just a thought... Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
DO NOT FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS UNTIL THEORY IS TESTED AND CONFIRMED. THESE ARE NOT WORKING CONFIRMED TO WORK YET!! Theoretically this is all you should have to do... I am currently running JD's Custom OEM 6.1 Sprint ROM. 1- Revert back to the OEM 6.0 Sprint ROM 2- Run NEW unlocker 3- Flash new Alltel ROM 4- Re-run NEW unlocker(not sure if this step is really required) 5- Flash a custom Sprint ROM, 6.1 or other Can someone tell me if this COULD work? I am willing to be a guinnee pig but if it is a sure fire brick to do this I am not going to try. |
