i havent been using htc home (by choice) for a few weeks now and...i am plenty used to it :) i can either fit more on my today screen, or have a picture i can actually see in the background, its pretty nice.

either way though, you can just recook the rom yourself with what you want (ie htc home), or install it via cab (and user customization if you want) after...its not too bad at all!

just for the record..i think most all the roms out there for the vogue are still BASED on this one...not quite sure though now with all the updating of the builds..

I never used HTC home ... I am one of those people who prefer stacked screens with all of my pertinent information at my fingertips (at a glance). Thus, my home screen is a bunch of stacked plugins.

------------------------
Elecont Weather
------------------------
Messaging Plugin
------------------------
Today Agenda
------------------------
pRSS Reader
------------------------
Win Media Player Plugin
------------------------
Live Search Home Plugin

The HTC Home Plugin, from what I saw, partitioned information off of the immediately viewable home screen ... each tab showing more information, but you had to activate each tab to see what was there

yeh HTC home is a waste for a clock and a few icons.

use something like phone alarm/spb phonsuite combined with a tab program like pocketplus or such and get the same functionality in 2 small lines rather than half the screen as a clock.

This is a fairly accurate or true statement for me, as I rely on my home screen for much more than many.

However, for a few folks who, 90% of the time, use their Touch as a Phone and maybe a media player, HTC Home is probably quite good for them them.

Another consideration is that Phone Alarm and PocketPlus are both commercial software that you will need to pay for in order to register / get full benefit / remove nag-alerts. HTC Home comes with the phone, so it doesn't cost you anything extra.

What I find really interesting, is that as memory strapped as the Mogul is, folks are using HTC Home on that device; perhaps at the expense of being able to comfortably run other applications. ](*,)

To each his own! :headbang:

Oh.. No2Chem ROM is for those most experienced users who do not ever need the HTC Home screen and use other programs to replace their Home Screen ..

What kind of other programs that are actually better than HTC Home screen you guys use ?

lets not get this thread off-topic (although its mostly dead anyway), but it depends on which one you try to set up im sure. there must be a thousand different iphone packs/themes/skins/etc.. just google it or search on xda or lakeridge's site. you will find PLENTY. some are really easy, but i tried one one time that was a real pain.

good luck.
