Hard reset and don't do it the way you did because some how you put a corrupt xtra.bin file on.

Hi mswlogo, did you mention somewhere else that xtra.bin can be deleted after the GPS worked once? I didn't try it yet.

GPS problem is gone! System fixed the bug. I have confirmed on my BELL HTC touch Diamond, Stock ROM, stock Radio.
Quick GPS is working.

Don't think so. Doesn't really matter that much.

What I believe it does is store a date and the data in the Radio NVRAM.
It compares that date on the xtra.bin file and if the file is newer it loads it into the radio NVRAM.
It loads that data into radio nvram at boot time and/or when you go to use the GPS the first time on that boot. So once that good data or BAD data is in the Radio NVRAM it stays until it sees a newer xtra.bin file.

Any way QuickGPS is now WORKING AGAIN !!!

Give it a try !!

Thank God It's back to normal now...

So my dst change therory wasn't all that bad after all, maybe quick gps servers upgrade their file once a week or maybe a bit more... certainly not everyday....

I would still like to point out (for Bell anyways) that they didn't fix the dst changed date (on their side) they spoofed the time by changing the time zone for a week until the new DST kicked in... I passed automatically from -4 Atlantic to -5 east at 2 am saturday. I don't think this is something acceptable considering that the new DST has been changed for a few years now.. This is probably my last CDMA phone...as I am sure this problem never showed up on GSM.
I don't think we can blame HTC nor Palm for this issue... This is a carrier issue... Already wrote a complaint to Bell...and I strongly suggest everybody to do the same...

Simply Ridiculous

Ok here's the deal guys as I just got off the phone with Sprint Tech Support. There was a national outage trouble ticket that was started on the 31st and was closed on the 1st. So Sprint is aware of the problem, however mine is still screwed up and not locking on any ROM or Radio. I have flashed everything back to stock and relocked my phone in anticipation of returning under warranty. I am still on the phone with Sprint Tech Support trying different things......this sucks!

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?

Sprint Tech Support was unable to help so they opened a trouble ticket for me and told me to go to my local Sprint repair store. Of course they had no luck getting it to work either so next option was to swap the phone out. He offered to swap out for a TP2 but they were backordered and they had no clue when they would be arriving (CRAP!!!!) Anyway so while looking around nothing even remotely interested until I saw the Samsung Moment.......dang that phone was sweet!!!!! I could swap out for it tho.... So anyway I have another TP arriving there tomorrow.

Problem is back again. Use the work around. They seem to work for most everyone.

Shut off ALL options in QuickGPS.
If you use SprintNAV set QuickGPS Service to Manual (e.g. use MemMaid). This will kill QuickGPS from even working manually.

Copy a GOOD xtra.bin (attached several times in this thread) to \Windows and \Temp with a NEW DATE.

To get a new date open a DOS Window and type

copy/a xtra.bin+,,

Then copy to your phone (in both places) and reboot.

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?

Just shortly after 5pm eastern time my GPS was fully functional running on the stock ROM with the 1.03 sprint radio again.

I just finished installing the HTC update with the 1.12.34 radio and everything is functioning perfectly again. Geez this is nuts... I am still suppose to take mine in tomorrow to be replaced under warranty.
