Re: internet sharing problem?
Try starting ICS on the phone and pressing connect BEFORE plugging in the USB cable. If I do it the other way around, it doesn't work for me either and I end up with Active Sync going instead.

Re: internet sharing problem?

once i do the internet share i hear a disconnect, then what sounds like a double connect at once? do you guys think windows updates had anything to do with this problem? |

Re: internet sharing problem?
Don't know about the updates. I am encountering the EXACT same problem. ActiveSync no problem. Everytime I try and do internet sharing it does the "duh duh duh" and won't recognize it until I shut off internet sharing. Any help on this would be GREATLY appreciated. Maybe I will try updates...Can't figure it out

Re: internet sharing problem?
Ahh i followed the instructions,
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing] Extension="" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings] ForceCellConnection="Sprint PCS" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing] MaxCMCon=0 but "Sprint PCS" keeps resetting back to "phone as modem" after a restart or refreshing the registry to make sure its still their must be a policy somewhere any one else have this issue? |

Re: internet sharing problem?
If you updated to the latest Sprint ROM from September they added some connection manager process that resets your registry values. You need to kill that process and replace the .exe with a dummy file.

Re: internet sharing problem?
But wat no one explains is the reason to use "Sprint" as the connection vs using "phone as modem"? they both alow teathering? so wats the difference?
I guessing that using "phone as modem" connection option tells sprint u r tethering, while using "sprint" connection tricks sprint into thinking ur just using internet on the device its self, Well am i right or wrong? |

Re: internet sharing problem?
On a stock ROM using Phone as Modem will result in the phone using your secondary (tethering) NAI. If you don't have the PAM option on your account, the secondary NAI will be denied login.
The "Sprint" profile uses the primary NAI and is the same login that is used by the phone's browser and other native net apps. |
