Poll: Your chargers speed? Post you results.

This thread is for all of us to get an idea of how much power we are sucking out of are chargers. So we can help others find a good car charger that can keep up with the heaviest power user.
Please follow the instructions and post your results in a reply. Or just read and learn.

So how much power will your charger put out? To find out start with a half charged battery. Turn on blue tooth. wifi, gps and have an active data connection or be talking on the phone with a blue tooth headset all at the same time.

Use a battery monitor program such as: 'nuePower '
http://www.nuerom.com
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=53214
for instructions and info about the nuePower app.

or "battery monitor"
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=52890 see post #7 for download.

Don't feel over wellmed with all my questions better for you to answer some then none.

In your reply make note of the:
Discharge rate?
Charge rate?
Temperature?
If you had to have it on a fan to keep it cool enough to charge?
Phone model and Rom?
Charger source AC (wall charger) or DC (Car charger)?
Charger model number and what it is designed for?
And where we can buy a charger like yours?
How much your charger will cost us?

I like the nuePower best it puts a short cut in start/settings/system and the GUI looks nice. With my touch pro with sprint I have a 780mA draw when providing wifi internet to my laptop. Im lucky to break even when using the factory 1,000mA charger. (must use a fan or phone over heats and wont charge) Phone can dubble as a pocket warmer when running these programs. Try having the wifi, Bluetooth, gps and phone raido on all at the same time! This thing might catch on fire. My laptop has a slower possessor and does less then my phone had my lap top has built in fan what an idea! I think some one otta design a battery cover that works like a heat sink heat paste and all.

Ok Im first

1092mA Discharge rate.
822 mA Charge rate.
21.7 degrees C
28.00 Degrees C AD whatever AD means??
Fan required to keep it cool enough to charge.
HTC Touch pro 1 with custom rom no touch flow with spb mobile shell
Factory OEM 1,000 mA AC (wall charger) .

This is with ICSControll brodcasting wifi to my laptop when downloading. Blue tooth off. GPS off.

My discharge rate drops to 300mA when download stops. 150 mA when all is off but screen and phone is on (but no phone call or data).

Phone sits in AC vent required to keep it cool enough to charge.

I noticed that when using the factory AC Wall charger with my touch pro 1 different cords make a difference of 180mA to 50mA for the worse. The factory sync cable is among the sync cables that perform well.

Re: Poll: Your chargers speed? Post you results.

I have burned out a few seriously under powered AC Motorola chargers and one of my china AC chargers started to smoke when the phone was not even drawing much power. The charger almost caught on fire the plastic case was melted and smoking when I unplugged it..

Update: 11-23-2009. I Just got this charger today in the mail it puts out only only 480mA MAX thats only 1/2 amp. This is not an oem charger. Its a counterfeit. It Weights only 57 grams = 2 ounces.

or

eBay $6.50 Total Supposed Oem HTC 2,000mA from seller named lovelypriceelement

If no one tells me they know this charger is a joke I will be ordering it on 10-25-09 and when it comes in I will post a reply. Im not like all of the MANY of you that say (it came in the mail today, I will write a review tommrow) and then we never here from you again? WTF
Update: 11-23-2009. This is probably counterfeit also.

or

eBay $13.90 total from seller forever-deal
My guess by looking at the fuzzy photo is its under powered.
2-IN-1 HOME+CAR OEM SPRINT CHARGER HTC TOUCH PRO 2

UPDATE 10-20-09 this seller has emailed me with info
AC input: AC 100-240 V 50-60 Hz Output: DC 5.0 V 500mA

or

eBay
$24.99total This one looks priced correctly to be a real OEM from seller named nakedcellphone
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-OEM-HTC-ORIGINAL-CAR-CHARGER-HTC-TOUCH-PRO-/350359321215?cmd=ViewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash= item51930afa7f
Update 4-21-2010 This was a real HTC charger, My touch pro pulls out around 800mA from this charger.

I want to find or learn how to build a kick *** DC car charger for all of us to hone in on. And rely on. One that won't catch on fire, wont quit working, one that we can all agree is worthy of are $600 phone and will put out more then 1,200mA during heavy use. I am tired of lugging around a DC to AC inverter in my car just so I can plug my AC wall stock charger into it. Many of us don't care about a car charger. But for the rest of us that do we know that most car chargers suck. Maybe YOU all ready know of this charger we need so badly. So speak up.

Re: Poll: Your chargers speed? Post you results.

Discharge rate: 751mA (between having Garmin software open and having wireless searching, while having an actice sync session over bluetooth)
Charge rate: 830 - 920 mA... It's always at least 800mA, while charging, doesn't matter what my discharge rate is...
Temperature: 30*C.... It's never moved...
HTC Touch Pro: Stock & Mighty6.5 Final both have the same charge rates...
Charger model: Homebrew setup using some R/C equipment... DC input

I have a feeling that the phone is limited to ~1000mA, as my 5V output is good for up to 10 amps continuous use, but the phone never pulls more than the 920 I saw.

For constant cellphone internet usage(two IM programs always open, and browsing the internet at the same time) or constant GPS usage (it functions as my speedometer... Yay Garmin Mobile!) my battery ALWAYS gets charged... Even when using the GPS for over 4 hours straight.

Re: Poll: Your chargers speed? Post you results.

I want my $5 back!! I updated Post #7 today with this today:

eBay $5.00 Total Supposed Oem HTC from seller named lovelypriceelement

UPDATE 10-20-09 this seller has emailed me with info DC 5.0 V 2,000mA

I also got the retractable corded charger this seller offered. It has the same crappy output power. The seller claimed it had 2 amps out. I want my $3.69 back!! Oh well they will make great headset chargers. I fully expected these results considering the cheap price. I will be trying a more costly OEM charger soon and I will update you all. Thank you drperry for your input. I may be building my own charger soon as you did.

Re: Poll: Your chargers speed? Post you results.

Gotta question. I am new to the HTC Touch Pro, just switched from a blackberry, and I was reading your charging rates here, and some of you said that you required a fan, or putting it on the ac vent to keep it cool while charging. I put mine on my dresser, and use the stock charger. I bought a "oem" (so they say) charger for the car off eBay and sometimes leave it in the car to charge. Will the phone stop charging if it gets to that point? Maybe I misread your postings, but the last thing I want to happen is burn my house down because I was trying to charge my cell phone unattended.
