Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Went to 3 stores today.. the first one gave me the usual run around. They hard reset it and gave it back "fixed." Went to another that was closed for the holidays. Drove more to a 3rd one and they pretty much told me to go back to the 2 which I were just at.
I said enough and called *2 and talked to the tech support. Escalated and the lady offered me a Palm Pre. I took it gladly. I don't know if I'll ever come back to WinMo land. It was a good stay while it lasted. But off to Pre land until my upgrade comes around. Hopefully the Bravo (Nexus One) will be on Sprint sometime next year. Good riddance Touch Pro. Hope to see some of you in the Palm Pre forum. |

However, after 3 replacements in a six month period, you move up to Priority 5, which means you can swap your device for a different NIB device. I think the memo is trying to get the reps to try and convince the customer to choose a different device instead of automatically ordering another TP unless the customer requests a different device. At a default Priority 4, a different device will always be available. Apparently a NIB device is an option as Priority 4, but it requires approval from an SRSS. I'm not sure what that is, but none of the ASC's I visited ever contacted anyone -- they just out and out denied me a NIB device. My theory is that and ASC can't do a Priority 5 (NIB) exchange without approval from whatever the SRSS is, but a corporate store can. |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Dead Touch Pro Sunday morning... brought it to the store for repair. The fixed it saying the LCD cable was disconnected. It lasted for 15 minutes and died again. We brought it back. They said it was dead. We were out of town so they ordered another TP1 to our store in our city. So now we were out of town with no phone. Went round and and round with Sprint on the phone. We were offered the Snap, but I'll pass, there is no touch screen. No go on the Touch Pro 2. They even sent us to Assurion saying there were giving out Touch Pro 2's. Called them and quickly found out that was not the case. Back on the phone with Sprint...same run around. They finally called the store and said they had a a Touch Pro for us. We went back to the store for a third time and picked up a brand new in box Touch Pro1. We gave them the Touch Pro 1 that was bad, and wow...it was so hot it had discolored the battery case.
So no TP2's for us... |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I called Sprint to complain about my TP1. I said it was locking up at night and the keyboard was lagging. I said I had flashed to the latest firmware, but it still has the problems. I told him I did lots of reading and that I know they're known issues.
The guy said he couldn't even send out a replacement TP1 if he wanted to -- it wasn't an option. He ran down the list of phones, but I didn't hear TP2 in the list. There was a pre, blackberry, HTC Snap, and a Treo Pro that I remember. I wonder if they're starting to limit the phones that they're letting out under this deal. I took the Pre and I'm finally out from under the fat, slow finger of Windows Mobile. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
little tidbit. a lot of people are jumping ship to the pre. My cousin's mom did the same and she loves that thing...she says she couldn't be happier...
do let the board know your experiences with the pre. |
