Would changing radios make a difference for me?

Pardon my when it comes to the subject

I am a Sprint customer
At my client site I roam on Verizon's network which in turn kills battery life (constantly get the roaming message).

Is there a specific radio that would be better for me? Keep in mind, Verizon has a tower on the roof of one of the buildings here.

Thanks everyone.

I would actually choose to change PRLs rather than radios seeing as the radio only tells your phone HOW to communicate with towers rather than WHICH towers to communicate with.

It may be to your benefit to dial a *228 when you're at work with the Verizon tower over you and update your PRL.

How would that even work if it's a Sprint phone? Wouldn't the prl recognize it as a non-Verizon phone?

Re: Would changing radios make a difference for me?

I had a similar situation. Would be at school and constantly in roam, killing my battery. I switched to the verizon radio and now keep 2 bars with EVDO, which is great, and as a bonus it improved my signal in most other places. Another trick is to force your phone into roam only mode while at the site, it takes about 2 seconds to do that.

Re: Would changing radios make a difference for me?

Experimenting with radios is almost always safe (it shouldn't disturb anything vital on the phone or data) and can make a big difference. Diff. radios are better for diff. people though, there are many variables. For me, switching to the latest VZW radio on my Sprint TP solved many reception issues I was having. Try them out.
