Re: Now that Gmail works with Activesync...
that, double notifications, and a waste of local storage space.

Re: Now that Gmail works with Activesync...
okay so let me ask this as I had switched back to my storm for the push email due to the fact that my work required it.....anyways I am getting ready to activate my touch pro again (yes finally!!!!) if you use activesync has peoples battery life increased due to the fact that its a on demand kind of thing, not always checking every 15 minutes? also does this support folders ( I dont think it does, but that would be a nice suprise) thanks everyone!
edit:ahhhhh they took out my mightyrom sig...I need a new one...sorry for the missing signature I will fix it soon

Re: Now that Gmail works with Activesync...
i tried gmail push and i didnt like it. im pretty sure my battery will drain faster for one thing because my data is always on now. even though i have the "disconnect if idle for 1 min" edit. also it actually mine seems to just pull every like 2 mins even though i have it set as items arrive. i like that my phone lasts all day and i dont want to have it only last 6 hours like it used to. not cool.
anybody else try it and not like it? i used to complain and try hard as hell to get push mail on my phone, but now i realize i dont like it. ill probably give it another try sometime though man i cannot spell today

Re: Now that Gmail works with Activesync...
yea, it depends greatly on coverage and amount of email, talking, txting.
if you have an evdo signal you get better battery, but talking and sms constantly switch to 1x, and the ratcheting kills watts. so if you don't use the data much (other than email) your better off setting to 1x only. then it will depend only on your signal and how much mail you get. but... (there's always a few.... lol, nothings perfect.... yet.) active 1x data will block calls and send them strait to v/m (another reason sprint needs to offer visual voicemail) I actually have mine set to manual with a script to sync in the morning, and the email I care about is also set up with imap, checking every hour. |

Re: Now that Gmail works with Activesync...
yeah i usually txt a lot and make calls alot so thats why i didntl ike it really. also i have horrible service at home so that is bad. i went from 1x to no service yesterday when i had data on when using gmail push.

Re: Now that Gmail works with Activesync...
I was excited when I first heard of this, but if my battery drains noticeably faster already from IMAP checking every 10 minutes I think this will be far worse. IMAP is pretty reliable as long as it only checks the day's messages, so I think I'll stick with it.
