Ok guys.. stop it with the misleading information...

Say if I got 5 different phones: phone A (TP), phone B (Vogue), phone C (Apache), phone D (Mogul), and phone E (Diamond) and my contract end date is 10/10/2010.

Say I had the phone A onto my account for a very long time, and I wanted to try the other 4 phones that my friend gave to me for free.

7/23/09 at 8 AM: I ESN swapped to the phone B, contract end date is still 10/10/2010.
7/23/09 at 9 AM: Didn't like phone B too much, so I ESN swap it for phone C, contract end date is 10/10/2010.
7/23/09 at 1 PM: Kind of like phone C, but I want to try phone D, so I swap it out to that, contract end date is 10/10/2010.
7/29/09 at 5 PM: Wanted to try phone E, so here it goes onto my account/plan, contract end date is 10/10/2010
10/08/2010 at 1 PM: Activated the CDMA version of the iPhone that I brought off from eBay onto my plan, contract end date is yet to be 10/10/2010.

In short, your contract date can not be change just because you activated another, different handset. Your contract end date DOES change if you request it to be extended or used your upgrade.

thank you, this is exactly what i was saying, and everyone says i'm wrong, but i know for a fact i'm right, plus i do it all the time. but they aren't talking about contracts they are talking about when you can upgrade. they think when you swapped the phones you changed your upgrade date, not your contract date, but not even the upgrade date is suppose to change unless you take advantage of the promo price. Correct before it use to change, but a year ago they fixed that rule. the only time you lose your upgrade is when you take that promo price and sign the contract.

What I also meant too is that it would not reset your upgrade eligibility. So.. ESN swap out a phone (any phone that is allowed under your plan) will not reset your contract end date OR your upgrade eligibility date.

Your posting seem a little vague and I had to reread it after this:

as long as its the identical device, your good...

if you switch to another phone, then it restarts...

and in case anyone asks, NO, changing your plan doesnt affect you rebate status either

if your doing ESN swaps, from your TP to say a mogul/diamond/any device.....you will reset your eligibility for upgrades...

if your merely getting a replacement TP every cpl of weeks then your all good...

I dont know if that changed but when I got my Touch Pro Sprint said I wasn't eligible for the 2 year upgrade price because i bought a new phone (I paid full price and didnt sign a new contract)... they told me that you have to have that "device" for 22 months to get the 2 year discount price.

fyi-- i still got the 2 year discount price lol you just gotta convince sprint a little

Yes, you are correct. I got a little carried away with the postings but to summarize this up:

Changes to the contract end date: 1) Request a contract renewal or 2) get a subsidized phone with a contract extension (1 or 2 years extension in most cases)

Changes to the upgrade eligibilty: 1) Used upgrade feature and get a subsidized phone

In your case, you probably had a system error as for if you buy the Touch Pro at the $579.99 price tag, there will not be an extension to your contract or upgrade eligibility date.

As always, you can get it your way some of the time with a phone call to Sprint or retentions.

Re: Sprint Upgrade

the Sprint Premeir status is simple to get.. be a customer for 10yrs, or have 3 months of consistent service(no shutoffs) with a rate plan higher the 69.99 i think is all it takes....

NOONE, should have to wait longer than a yr anymore to upgrade... and its not a $$$ discount, its new customer pricing so extra mail in rebates if available and everything..
