I also concur that 3 items really tend to affect battery life
1. Backlighting
2. Data connection or Wifi
3. ROM

I was using EneryROMs for a while. Really one of the best ROMS out there but the Achilles heel is the battery life which eventually led me to switch.

Just buy a bigger battery. They sell high-capacity batteries with twice the capacity for $50 or so ... you need to replace the back door b/c the phone gets thicker, but you do get more power.

My battery life is really good, clean the phone up a bit and get all the usless junk out, active sync killer and adv config, my battery lasts all day using it

Yes, this is true. If your phone is in an area where you have to roam all the time or low signal, your phone will drain its battery faster than anything else.

Aye. Alltel sent me a text message recently that they "upgraded their network in my area," but my signal completely tanked on 2 different radios since then, and I've been plowing through my battery like mad (40% to 8% on standby while I slept for 6 hours, no thanks).

Time to start flashing radios again to find the one that works with this "upgrade," lol.

I hated my battery life on the Sprint ROM and have flashed many MANY roms and found that Mighty 6 with the telus radio works the best so far. I barely get signal where I work and I get 10hrs and its at 40% and get an avg evening of use out of it and its 10% when I get home. So yeah I would say I take off charger at 430am and don't charge until 10-11pm.

I think signal is the biggest factor. Since your don't have a data plan, you can force your phone into 1x only mode. I dont know how to do it on Sprint, but someone will.

I'd bet that alone increases battery by 30% or more.
