Request: Cooks please stop using Rapidshare :(
So, in this new apt my girl and I moved into... We found out that Comcast is not allowed due to a contract the landlord has with another provider for media access (deemed illegal in 2007 by the FCC).
Long story short, I refuse to get internet from DirecTV (satellite, offers a WHOPPING 1.5MegaBIT connection for $80/month... I get about the same from my TP.... Though i should be getting 2.5 on it anyways... The only internet access I have, as I'm sure plenty other users here, have... Is my TP... And when I download from RS (which does not allow resume downloading) the smallest connection interruption kills the download... And DDTM is not an option for me seeing as how I make and receive a plethora of business calls throughout the day... I was gonna post this in the Upgrade forum instead but I know that someone is gonna female dog me about how its not a direct upgrade... Thanks guys :D |
Re: Request: Cooks please stop using Rapidshare :(
i just dont like rapidshare because it requires you to wait a while and the downloads are still slow. Mediafire is the best because the downloads speeds for the free accounts are the same as the pro ones, it doesnt have a wait time, and files can only be deleted when the original poster says so

To solve this problem, there are several free download managers available online that will take over for Windows on all your downloads, and most support resuming from broken connections without prompting.

but i doubt your gonna change the way the masses do things around here as far as RS goes.. and u got a link to this illegal for landlords not being able to have agreements with Cable/Internet providers?? i have plenty of friends that live in apt complexes where Satellite is prohibited flat out... some only allow comcast... and some only allow ATT(for internet, and its actually built into the wall even, just need the box and software)... i dont see why this would be illegal in the first place.. it may suck, but it shouldnt be illegal.. they may of argued "Consumer Choice limitations" if indeed it is Illegal... but theres plenty of areas, whole cities even that dont have the service available to them or are they are made to make a certain choice only.. example Wyandotte,MI has its own everything.. Water, Power, Digital Cable, High Speed internet... You cannot use comcast anything in wyandotte and comcast will tell you so.. you also have to use their internet if you want it as well.. they spent tons of money putting fiber optic lines in the entire city for this... you can do dsl route, but the only way for good internet is through them... i dont see how if an entire city can do it, why a landlord cannot.. and fyi wyandotte even though it may sound like it, is a in a major suburban area of Detroit, so every city around it has comcast availabe to them... |
