CDMA Doesn't Charge Sometimes
Okay, here's the situation.
My wife purchased a Sprint Touch Pro in February for her job. Everything was fine for a couple months but then it randomly would not charge overnight. Basically, the white LED's would indicate it was fully charged, then you'd start the phone up and battery would be critically low. Now, there was also a funky twist. Sometimes the phone actually would be charged but the battery indicator on screen would show the critically low icon. When you click on the icon, it would say that the battery status was unknown. So, after 4 visits to Sprint and a few phone calls, they finally replaced the phone yesterday. This morning she turns the phone on after charging overnight and the battery indicator shows the critically low icon. When clicked upon, it states that the battery level is unknown. WTF?? It appears to have charge, but the indicator is f'd. The phone is plain jane stock right now, I've not tweaked/hacked it in any way. Any ideas on what could be causing this issue? The Sprint techs are clueless and keep changing batteries. After the 3rd battery, you'd think they'd figure out that's not the problem. Thanks in advance. |

The internal charging circuit isn't working. Time for a new phone.

Re: CDMA Doesn't Charge Sometimes
Thanks for the heads up guys. We swapped the phone last night for, I'm assuming, a refurb.
This morning, the battery indicator was showing the exclamation point symbol and said that battery info was not available, but after restarting the battery showed as full. Hopefully it stays that way. Thanks again for the info. |
Re: CDMA Doesn't Charge Sometimes
i can think of two possible causes.. either the battery is not getting correct voltage while charging, or the phone needs its battery memory dumped..
1) are you using the charger that came with the phone ? 2) whens the last time you let the lithium ion battery completely die ? unlike nickel batteries youre not really supposed to let l-ion die, but depending on the type of gadget youre using you might have to let the l-ion completely drain like once a month to clear battery memory. edit: also theres a third one possibly - is the phone doing anything at night that would cause it to overheat ? like.. is the wifi kept on for the entire night or anything ? hot l-ion batteries will disconnect themselves and prevent charging. Re: CDMA Doesn't Charge Sometimes
Mine does the same thing but I noticed if you wait five to ten seconds after you turn it on, the battery guage/indicator will finally catch up and show the correct indication, full charge.

I've seen the same thing. Generally, if I click the batter icon and it says, "unknown," I just wait a few seconds and it eventually comes back.
