I looked around but I am real consfused.
If I were to update my radio, does that change my ROM as well?
It's the exact same interfact as when I change my ROM.
I have Sprint and my signal has been VERY low, but my girlfriend has a treo and she has full bars, sitting right next to me.

Changing the radio will not alter the core OS, all data will remain intact on the unit. You need to have a HardSPL installed prior to flashing a non-stock radio or ROM.

Since you are running an aftermarket ROM, that means you already have a HardSPL installed. Now flash whatever radio you wish to have on your phone.

if I have Sprint? Sorry if I am such a idiot, new to these phones

Yes, as long as it is a CDMA radio it can go on any CDMA phone.
