how many text messages is too many to store?

Phones lag with more data according to many people on here. However, I tend to save months and months of text messages. I guess this is a bad idea but sometimes I refer back to messages, although not very often.

Has anyone figured out what's the best time to backup/delete text messages from your phone to speed it up?

I'm a wierdo and I erase just about all my texts on a regular basis, it's like second-nature.

I would say anything over a million is getting pretty high.

after about 5k, i started having problems with tf3d switching to the text tab, and around that amount, pocket outlook has a hard time refreshing after closing a message window. it takes a good 15-30 seconds, sometimes longer. this is on all roms, from stock to mighty5 and everything in between.

i used to have over 8k of txts on my phone and now when i flash a rom i only have like 1k many people have less as they flash more then me. it becomes addicting
