Sure it does. If theft of intellectual property rights are allowed, all the talented chefs and developers who provide your phone with free goodies will dry up and go away.

Your phone does give a hoot, you just don't know it.
I see your point Indagroove but at the same time I don't see this case stopping the advancement of technology. The fact is almost if not all software companies have "borrowed" technolgy from other people. Its well documented... In fact just cooking with Windows 6.5 ect in the first place is on the verge of illegal and at the very least in the Grey area. I mean you are infact taking 100's of people work at Windows and building off of it are you not? My point is a good ROM is a good ROM, and at the end of the day thats what I put on my phone.

lol! MS is leaking the builds to us. they want us to build roms so we can work out the bugs. also, no chefs are claiming to have created 6.5

I don't agree with stealing others work and passing it off for your own, but I think I may be more annoyed with the people who keep beating a dead horse around here. Like the late Michael Jackson said, "Beat It", and don't support this thread if you don't like it.

The horse isn't dead, if it continues to rear it's ugly head. In some countries they cut off the hands of a thief. Around here, we just bash them for a while.

This is an unsupported rom thread, for a ROM build by a thief. Until NFSFAN appologizes for his theft, get used to the bashings.

If this was true, they would be leaking the real files to us... source and all. The reality is that the files are ripped, stripped, moved around and recombined in the hopes of finding combinations that have the least presentation of bugs. The chefs are NOT getting the bugs out unless they are actually modifying source code. I don't know of anyone actually doing that.

Do you even know what you are talking about, or are you just making stuff up over there?

Let's get real for a minute. If MS didn't want us to be using the leaked builds they would send a simple C&D notice to PPCGeeks. They have not. The builds are leaked for a reason, and the reason if for us to test them. Wether the chefs get the bugs out or MS does, the fact remains that these leaked builds are the best way for MS to find and fix bugs in advance of an official release.

I do know what I am talking about. You seem to be stating something as fact. The burden of proof is on you. What evidence do you have that the leaked builds have officially been released to us for testing? Further, what evidence do you have that they RELY on us to discover bugs... by the way... discovering bugs and fixing them are two different things. THEY fix the bugs. WE do not. In any case, I hardly believe they need this community to test their builds. That is what they pay their employees to do. There actually have been some C&Ds sent out. Ask Juicy. The reality is, they don't want to waste their money / time on C&Ds because what we are doing here is of no consequence to them. If it is ever determined that this community creates a monetary gap for them, trust me, they will close it.

According to tweakers.net (dutch), a very popular and more important, trustworthy Dutch IT website.
XDA-Developers (And thus also Duttythroy.net) breaches intellectual property laws regarding ROM Cooking.
However Microsoft and HTC both agree "We can't live with 'em and we can't live without 'em."
Microsoft will not send take down orders to sites such as XDA-Developers, who offer customized ROMs for windows-mobile telephone.
Some sites offering ROMs based on Windows Mobile 6.5 got take down orders last week. They, However, appeared to be hoax.
“Taking action against sites such as XDA-Developers isn’t a matter of concern for Microsoft” says Maarten Sonneveld of Microsoft Netherlands against tweakers.net. “What happens there, the modifying of ROMs, is illegal. The intellectual property however is not with us. The ROMs are intellectual property of the producers of the phone or the mobile phone providers if it concerns branded telephones. We simple only deliver the OS.”

The biggest producer of Windows Mobile-phones, HTC, also says they don’t have any plans to take action against ROM sites. “What happens there isn’t allowed” says HTC Benelux-CEO Mark Moons,
“But XDA-Developers is the biggest and most active community of Windows Mobile-developers. We can’t live with ‘em and we can’t live without ‘em.”

Like they said We can’t live with ‘em and we can’t live without ‘em.”
