Trying to get the rA icon like alltel users on sprint.

Ok, this should be possible, but I havent been able to figure it out. I'm in Charlotte, NC, and sprint is rev a here. even tried flashing NightRaven - Full Alltel WM6.5 - CE OS 5.2.21812 (Build 21812.5.0.50), and it didn't work. The HCLM/System/OEM_State/RSSI/show_rev_A_icon=1. Still just shows the Ev icon.

Anybody know what to do?

as far as I know only alltel does this.

well, the only difference is upload speed, so I'll bet they figured it wasn't important. besides they've moved on to 4g and hopefully their concentrating on getting that working well.

So rev A only affects UL's? I was told it boosted DL's also.

your on sprint? if it says EV your in REV A buddy... a custom task bar would get ya the icon im sure.. check out tsowen i think, very popluar for the taskbar work...

It's not the task bar. I put a rom that was made for only Alltel on my phone. The screen grabs from the rom had the rA icon on it, so that taskbar has the icon.

Do I need a alltel PRI or something?

I'm not 100% on this, but I vaguelly remember it being mentioned.

From my knowledge the Sprint ROM does alert you, but unfortunately they are using the same icon so you don't know. It uses the same EVDO icon for Rev 0 and Rev A. If you can find, and replace, the icon it's using with a rA icon you should see the change.

At least that's how i remember reading it, but i never looked into it since i dont tether to my Macbook Pro too often and use minimal non-wifi internet access (mainly i use the internet for "at work" pages that are blocked (email, gaming) and Google Maps.

Check your EPST and make sure you actually have Rev A enabled on your phone. ##778# (for Alltel... might be ##3282# for Sprint), under Data Parameters.

Since you're positive you've got the rA icon in your phcanOverbmp.dll and you've got the reg value "show_rev_A_icon" in the correct place, it sounds to me like you might not actually be using rA.

Another possibility... and this is very much a use at your own risk, could be no2chem's Override .dll and reg hack from here that was mentioned earlier. Haven't actually tested this, but the core concept is ... err... kinda relevant, so--assuming you *do* have Rev A in your EPST, it might be something to check.
