some people get lucky, i got a new 1 that the screen was definately more pale than the 1 i was returning.

at some point they started using a different backlight (likely in an attempt to lower temps) a refurb is a roll of the dice. you never know which you'll get. and just because they say it's new and is in a box, does not always mean it's actually NIB, rather it was returned with the box.

and thats why i make it a big deal when my phone fails becvause i still have the warranty and i DO NOT wanta refurbished phone.
