Yeah it seems as if Shaggy is right, just gotta pick your bugs. I imagine I could work with the keyboard thing though, the video issues made the whole device unusable.

I assume that's something I can fix by flashing a custom ROM that handles memory management better, but sorta thinking it might be better just to take it back before doing anything else to it, since it happened twice in 30 minutes.

Also... with the old phone, I had hard reset after flashing to the stock ROM, but *not* after putting on different radio and relocking it. My paranoia leads me to believe this is a bad thing, and that the Alltel Police are gonna show up and take away my toys.

Edit - Thanks for all the advice and help, guys!

ha ha, nothing they can do about it now..
I hard reset again after every flash, that includes when I get flashed at the store 8) (new in box)
if the hardware all works, I wouldn't return.

Nothing they can do about it now, as in, I'm in the clear? Sweet. Can't imagine they'd be able to tell anyways since the video was so bad... even in bootloader you could rarely read the text because of the scrambling.

Yeah, just got done with a hard reset and have been stress testing it non-stop, so far no issues.

I <3 this forum. :D

I just filed my claim with Asurion for a replacement TP... and the price went up to $100 bucks. I hope that it is harware failures for both the video skewing and now the keyboard stopped working. My wife thinks its from all the flashing I do to the phone. I dont think that would be the issue.. does anyone here think flashing could be the cause of hardware malfunctions like video skewing and keyboard failure, even after several hard resets on a stock rom?

I don't know for sure, but from all the reading I've done the last few days of other people with the same problems, I think it's just... erm... "delicate" parts in a fragile device that frequently go tits up.

Well.... I will wait for my 3rd TP to come in the mail. This sucks, I NEVER had an issue with my Mogul. I beat the hell out of that thing, dropped it, kicked it, spilled beer on it and it never had one issue. Every TP I get has an issue.

Only your third? I'm on my fifth  Two keyboard failures, one earpiece failure + home key almost got ripped off it was so high, and one stopped getting data altogether and Sprint replaced it. This most recent one feels pretty good.

How did you go about getting your phones replaced? Did you go through Asurion or directly through Sprint?
