Verizon 6800 screen cracked, questions about verizon touch pro

My 6800 screen cracked and I am eligible for a new every two upgrade. Many of the reviews I see for the verizon version of the phone say its sluggish and not as good as the other brand versions, indicating problems including lower memory and such. As a current 6800 user, will I find the HTC Touch Pro from verizon faster or slower than my current 6800? Are there more problems with this than with the 6800? Basically I don't see much feedback from verizon users other than the negative official reviews.

Also, should I just go through my insurance and tell them each refurb they send me doesn't work until I get a new HTC Touch Pro (which the refurbs usually don't work anyway) or should I just spend the $260 after discounts?
