EXCUSE ME BUT I WAS AT THE SPRINT STORE TWO WEEKS AGO AND PLAYED WITH THE WM 6.5 TOUCH PRO. I posted a phone number to the person you could call to play with it yourself in Hampton, VA. IT DOES NOT Have the honey comb and is still beta. For those who have the attitude of, oh your telling a lie or it's a rumor. I am BIBLE COLLEGE STUDENT AND HAVE NO REASON TO LIE. I HAVE SEEN THE NEW OS AND IT IS GREAT ON THE TOUCH PRO.

Yawn. lol. Our chefs will have a better, released, fewer bug version long before Sprint releases their official one.

Shoot, the betas available today will probably be better than Sprint's released version.

I use 6.5 every day now. I doubt I'll go back to 6.1 for any reason.

a official 6.5 rom upgrade will be the best thing for our chefs...i doubt the betas will be better then what sprint releases..the stock rom from them was not really bad imo...and i fail to see where 6.1 has to do with this

No surprise. I've been telling people I know that Sprint would be doing to last year lol.

Sprint is very good when it comes to upgrades and having 6.5 on the Touch Pro might make them the first carrier in the US to have Windows Mobile 6.5 on the market which is a huge marketing bonus.

I was an Instink owner...twice over...and I can tell you that we screamed FOREVER to get updates to fix glaring issues...and it fell on deaf ears (Sprint.) I then used the dumb phone...and a dept called retentions...to get into the world of PPC's!!

Don't wait for Sprint...if anything...wait for the official release...and hang on for the chef's to cook up some amazing ROM's!!!:headbang::headbang::headbang:

Thats HUGE!!.. If the chefs can cook up a high quality rom off of a beta release that wasnt tailored for a touch pro; what do you think they will do with a production release that is tailor made for the touch pro...

Exactly! The official sprint release will fill in the missing pieces of the 6.5 ROMs we are using now and may become a great base/springboard for more advanced custom ROMs.

Why is it that everyone complains to Sprint when its an HTC phone? Complain to the manufacturer not the carrier. Thats like buying a Dodge and putting a Kenwood cd player in and complaining to the dealer that it wont play burnt cd's.

u complain to who u pay money to .. we pay sprint .. we are sprints csr.. they are liable... then in turn sprint complains to HTC.. sprint is HTC's csr... thats just the chain of command so to say.. sprint is 100% responsible for the product they offer their service on... if there is an issue with the device ... sprint needs to work it out with HTC not us

if the dodge came with a kenwood cd player and dodge is advertising that it plays burnt cds.. u bet your *** i would be complaining to dodge if it didnt work right.. then they would have to fight with kenwood to get it resolved

And to the person who said everybody who's tried 6.5 didn't like it, WTF are you talking about? I've been playing around with 3-4 different 6.5 roms, and I LOVE it. The fact that a Beta works so well makes me VERY excited for an official release of 6.5, which will hopefully have updated hardware drivers, etc.

And like so many others have said, a Sprint ROM is nothing to get too excited about, except that it will be an EXCELLENT base to cook new ROMs off of, as opposed to using a Beta build.

I would complain to sprint as this is bad QA on sprint's part. Sprint got this phone customised for them . So either they introduced the bugs or decided not to spend to fix the bugs.

Sprint makes the software for their HTC phones, if you call Htc, they will tell you that any software issues are Sprints problem.

Meanwhile, Verizon is coming up with a new WM5 AKU 3 release with a new "feature" to disable half of the 192MB of RAM on their device and charge you monthly to re-enable it. You will also be billed if you choose to use a Micro-SD card. The new release will be available 2 weeks after Sprint releases the Touch Pro 2.

Easy, sparky. Nobody accused you of lying, and many of us are ALREADY RUNNING Windows Mobile 6.5 and know exactly what it looks like. I twas likely someone who had a hacked ROM just like MANY of us here already do.

Also, tip for life: being in Bible college, being a Christian, or being a member of ANY religion has no bearing on your honesty. You know what percentage of prisoners are Christian? The same percentage as the rest of the population (I think hovering around 70% of Americans at the moment). Earn credibility, don't rely on your belief in an ancient book to provide it for you.

I've tried most, if not all, the WM6.5 Roms on my Touch Pro and, IMHO, Mighty Rom 5 is an absolutely incredible, stable, fast ROM. I'll never go back to 6.1. Anyone who hasn't tried it should, especially if you are still running the gawd awful stock rom.

Yes, Sprint should absolutely put the final WM6.5 out for the Touch Pro, they'll sell a gazillion of them (and they need to!).

Sprints release of 6.5 is actually a step. yea ive been running 6.5 for probably a couple months now, and love it...like many, i will never go back to 6.1. but to those haters saying that this doesnt mean anything...yes it does.. sprints release gives us features that might not have been available from beta roms..

think of the iphony, they have to pay ten bucks to get bluetooth, copy and paste and video capture capabilities....suckers...

im running 21222 now, and since its a european version, some stuff doesnt work with it.

Having a build customized towards a phone will always be better than a beta, thus customized....Plus, we all know the chefs will take the release and hack it beyond recognition anyways..

Someone with more free time on their hands should send one asking about Windows mobile 7.3. I bet they'll have an answer for that one as well.

lol, that's almost EXACTLY what I was thinking. Odds are a CSR got that, just assumed it was in the works, and responded accordingly. I really doubt the reps would be aware of this when no announcements have yet been made, or are likely to be made any time soon.

Technically WM6.5 is supported by our phone (duh, we're running it), but it is missing ONE of MS's requirements: a Start button. Every other requirement they've given it is covered, but that alone could be enough for them to deny it a license. Also, with the Touch Pro2 likely coming out somewhere around the time Sprint would finally have this update available (we know how slow they are), I think they'd be likely to use that as an excuse to prefer people buy the new phone instead of upgrading this one.

That said, it's not impossible, I don't doubt the OP's authenticity, regardless of his religious affiliation, and I really, really hope this news is true. Not because I ever plan to use a stock ROM again (after the official 6.1s came out for the Mogul I never switched), but because it'll give the chefs a stable, fully compatible base to cook off of, which will only make our custom ROMs more kickass.

The Touch Pro supports Windows Mobile 6.5 per MS requirements. Microsoft has recended the start menu requirement on upgraded devices.

I wasn't aware that they dropped that requirement. I knew it fit every other requirement.

All right, so that still leaves it up to carrier discretion. So when is the Touch Pro2 coming out, and will Sprint feel upgrading the current model will damage sales of the replacement?
