Getting google maps to work on TP

Hey guys this my first post so bare with me. I was messing with the google maps mobile and figured out how to get it to connect using the TP internal GPS. I am going to lay out the steps i used and let me know if it worked for you.

1. Go to SETTINGS>ALL SETTINGS>SYSTEM TAB>EXTERNAL GPS

A. FROM HERE MAKE SURE THESE SETTING ARE APPLIED.

PROGRAMS TAB> GPS Program port = COM0

HARDWARE TAB> GPS Hardware port = None
Baud Rate = 4800

ACCESS TAB> Manage GPS Automatically = on (check the box)

Ok thats half of the Solution...

2. Open Google maps application

A. From the main screen Go to > Menu > Options >GPS settings

Click on Set Manually. Apply these Settings: COM0 and 4800

B. Make sure to press OK and then go to Menu from the main
screen of google maps and select use GPS.

And thats all, Now when you click find me you will see "seeking GPS satellites" and some numbers in Parenthesis for example (378273088 ) is what it is on my phone and after about 1 min it should find you. I did notice also you should be outside to get the best results. Even with 3 bars in my Apartment in the Bronx (New York For those who don't know where that is) i had weak gps signal.

Also I am using Mighty Rom 4.16/Telus radio so i think is should work for any Rom/radio
Hope this helps you guys.:headbang:

For the most part, I agree. GPS works fine for me. THe only thing that doesn't work is cell tower location identification but I think that is more a limitation of Sprint/my phone. :(

i'm confused. google maps has worked with the TP from the beginning with no problems on most TPs with most roms. is there something new here i can't get my head around?

lol, alot of work to get your google maps working.

I just click "use gps" and away it goes. Did you, by any chance, muck with the Win Mo settings for gps management before having all these issues?

I also had no setup to do on my Google Maps with GPS.

I did have an odd issue with the latest Maps D/L from Google, and it could have just been my phone and a combination of what was installed, but it would poll every 5-10 minutes, causing my phone to beachball, very annoying.

I should say I left it on all the time to keep Latitude updated.
