I recommend Slick: http://www.lonelycatgames.com/?app=slick it's free and you can do file transfers and other stuff like that. Palringo isn't bad either but I like Slick. I also use a version of Bombus that's made for PPC, but it only connects to jabber/google-talk servers, but using a transport you can connect to AIM, YAHOO, MSN, etc with it. I can't get Beejive to EVER work, only always crashes on me. Try Palringo or Slick. Probably like 'em both. |

I've tried many but stuck with nimbuzz. Nice b/c it has facebook chat/ skype all built into one.

Re: What's the best aim app to use on touch pro?
Is it just me or does Slick drain the battery faster than it can even be charged? Had this happen on a Touch and a Touch Pro. Hopefully I was just doing something wrong because I liked it when I could use it.

Oz doesn't play well with my rom I guess. Sometimes I launch it and it just hangs there, not doing anything. Too bad, because when it works, it's good. Everything else kills the battery.

Re: What's the best aim app to use on touch pro?
aim for text.. you can google how to do it but there are plenty of numbers to use that the other aim person or cell can reply to. I have most of my fav aim buddies as contacts so its easy to aim them from text. best part is on the aim site if you sighn off pc and have your mobile registered ims get forwarded as texts and you can still reply.
Its easy to im someone on aim from a text just send a text like this to 265080 byddys sn: message for me it would be 265080 gator2k83: whats up. The aim user will get the message and be able to reply to you. best part is no app running in the bg all ims get pushed to your celly via text if you have your number assosiated with your sn on aim.com AIM TXT page http://mobile.aol.com/aolproducts/aimtxt?loc=aim AIM im forwarding http://mobile.aol.com/aolproducts/imforwarding?loc=aim |
Re: What's the best aim app to use on touch pro?
In response to the AIM through SMS, what the person above me is describing is being able to IM buddies from your phone number. When you IM someone, your screen name will appear to them as +1(10-digit number). You can go an extra step and actually sign onto your AIM screen name by sending an sms to AIMAIM (246246) with the message " login [screen name] [password] ". After you're signed in, you will be given a menu to set your status, to IM a buddy, to set an away message, etc. This way, friend's that don't have your mobile number added onto their buddylist will be able to IM you regularly through your screen name. This is great for leaving your screen name signed in without having any applications running. I don't like the mobile icon next to my name so on my desktop AIM, I set it so that users cannot see me as mobile. This cannot be done with IM Forwarding.
I've tried Oz and while it got the job done, I just didn't like something about it. I sometimes never received notifications of new IMs. I don't like that you have to view a buddy's info to know whether or not they were mobile and you can't read a buddy's away message. I've used Slick before and I liked that you can send and receive files. I believe vibrate works now on the latest version. Lately I've just been using AIM for Windows Mobile. I don't use any other messenger so there's no need for the extra ones. Plus it's very close to the desktop version. The only thing I don't like about it is that you cannot click on links that people send and you cannot copy any of the text in the conversations. These are the only 3 AIM applications that I have used. I'll try the other suggestions that people have mentioned. You can't really ask what the best app is. You just have to try for yourself and decide which suits you best. |
