Lightbulb Windows Live & Syncing Contacts

Hey guys,

This may be a general question, but since this does pertain to my Touch Pro (and because many people are active in the TP section), I figure I'd ask here.

Using Windows Live, I am able to sync all my contacts on my TP to my Windows Live account. However, I do not see how I can manually sync any online contacts to my TP. I do not see a "sync now" button or anything. The one thing I thought would work was to click "Send/Receive" on my Hotmail (Live) account, but that only synced by Inbox / Deleted Items / Junkmail.

The reason I am doing this is because I can no longer rely on Mail2Web ActiveSyncing all my contacts. Furthermore, I am in a bind because when I uncheck the "Contacts" box in the Outlook section of ActiveSync, all my Contacts on my phone dissappear (fortunately, I can get them all back by simply checking the "Contacts" box again and activating ActiveSync).

So my question is, how do I sync all my Windows Live contacts to my Touch Pro? IS there a manual Sync button somewhere? (BTW, yes I did check the "sync Windows Live contacts to mobile device" and "merge duplicate contacts" when I registered Windows Live on the TP.)

Any help would be appreciated as I would not want to risk losing all my contacts when Mail2Web deletes my account on May 1.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT:

I also attempted to copy the "pim.vol" file before allowing ActiveSync to erase all my contacts, then placing the "pim.vol" file back in the root (via Total Commander). However, that did NOT restore my contacts and such; therefore, I had to ActiveSync them back from Mail2Web.

Any help on using the pim.vol file would also be appreciated.

Re: Windows Live & Syncing Contacts

you need to rename the pim file on your phone anything...I always rename mine pimp.vol then copy the pim.vol file with all of your contacts that you saved earlier to the same directory. soft reset of the phone and all your contacts should be there.

So just to confirm:

1) Make a copy of the pim.vol file and place it somewhere else (either on SD or on my Computer)

2) Disable "contacts" syncing in ActiveSync, thereby eliminating all my contacts on my TP.

3) Rename the original pim.vol file to something else (i.e. pimp.vol)

4) Place copied pim.vol file back into the Root directory of TP.

5) Soft-Reset.

Will doing the above steps in that order restore all my contacts after ActiveSync has eliminated them off the TP?

-------------------------------------

Additionally, can't anyone show me how to Sync contacts from my Live account to my TP?
