Re: Sashimi vs UCAutoinstall

now that you have your account setup, go into the options and write down the server incoming and outgoing info and what not. Get that all down and then enter it into makisu to make the xml file.

If I was to do that with Sashimi, I would have to delete files from the CAB directory, and then copy them back next time, and try to remember what programs I wanted and I didn't want. With SDConfig, the next ROM comes along, if it doesn't have google maps, I can just open that SDConfig file and delete the two slashes and blamo, it installs it for the new ROM.
This is the exact reason that I like UC. I like to have a bit more control over what gets installed without actually messing with the cabs (deleting or changing folders, etc).

Sashimi sounds interesting, but I don't really have a need to venture into the unknown cause UC doesn't let me down.

What do you do when your config is running into problems and you want to see if it's the rom or your setup? Your UC is running right off the bat...

My sentiments exactly! I've always used UC. Heard about Sashimi no end, but never bothered to take the time. I will certainly give it a go now though.

Personally that's why I'm always up for a new ROM....to venture into the unknown. I'm looking at this the same way I guess.

Either way...I'm reserving judgement for now

Re: Sashimi vs UCAutoinstall

I'd like to start using sashimi as I've been flashing a lot lately, but I'm have trouble finding a wiki or guide to get started. I've s=earched the formums and found plenty of peopole talking about how great it is but no links or info on how to get started. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

The creator, bengalih, has setup some fairly comprehensive guides to using his tool. Have you checked out his forums?

http://www.winmo-experts.com

For the record ... I absolutely love UC Autoinstall. In my case, absolutely unprompted setup is paramount. I have an oem that eliminates first boot stylus calibration and setting of time zone, so from the time my flash finishes, I don't have to touch my phone until after UC Autorun has completed. Thus, I setup my text file on the root of my storage and it does exactly what I want (tsk, xml, cab's, exe's), in the precise order that I prescribe, all without user intervention.

It is entirely possible that you can do this (and more) with sashimi, but I haven't (yet) had cause to make the transition; UC Autorun handles all of my needs (for now).

Best regards,
-boggsie

Thanks for the link, I tripped across that forum before but didn't realize how much info there was there.

I've been looking into UC as well, but most of the roms I've been flashing have not been UC compatible as far as I can tell.
