See the last post in my TCPMP thread for the new latest leaked version 1.6.0.112 SlingBox player mobile client....:headbang:

I like hava also, but at the moment it has problems playing in landscape on my TP

Re: slingbox quick question

I would go with the SlingBox Pro, see the new picture of the remote control in my TCPMP thread. Landscape mode works like a charm....:headbang:

Landscape is bad, as it stands right now on a TP. Choppy choppy choppy, even with the 112 leaked version. The portrait mode works great tho.

I wish someone would leak another beta that has better landscape support. The 112 leaked version has been floating around for a while now.

IMO the leaked version has noticeably better picture clarity. I don't knwo what other fixes might be in there tho.

All of the SlingBoxes will be pretty much the same(crappy) in Landscape mode because it's not the Box that is the problem, it's the software(as evidence the potrait mode is smooth).

Now, I have read where people have said that the Pro will give you "slightly" better framerates because it uses a better codec, but to be honest, I didn't see much, if any really difference, with regard to framerates(I had the regular SlingBox first and then returned it and went with the Pro).

The difference is the HD vs SD only. The Pro's HD streaming looks really good on the phone, however you need a really good home internet connection, in order to be able to stream it well. I have 16mbps down, 2mbps up so I am good in that regard.

Re: slingbox quick question

im not worried about streaming in HD as i just have a regualr cable box that i am streaming from and the hd is like 299 wich is a little much IMO i just want to be able to watch sports when im at work like i am doing right now but i just want good picture and really want the landscape to work i dont understand why it works in portrait fine but not in landscape makes no sense to me.

i had read people with the new sling mobile app have the lanscape and it works flawlessly? is this not true?

Re: slingbox quick question

Doesn't make much sense to me either, except that the TP's are VGA devices and I don't think Sling was quite ready to handle the higher VGA resolution with their software.

For what I have read(if I remember right), I think they are doing a complete rewrite, for their next version. How this will change things I dunno, but I'm guessing the rewrite was needed to be able to handle these newer higher resolution devices coming out.

so go to the sling huh?

Re: slingbox quick question

Well really depends on what you have as source and if HD is that important to you.

I have the Solo and I'm quite happy with it, component output on my AT&T U-Verse through the box is quite acceptable with the 2Mbps up service.

Of course it can't beat HDMI out, but then again, what is the point to try to watch 720/1080 program on our phone and expect it to be as good as the bigger LCD panel anyway.

Well in that case, Solo works. Of course you can check out alternatives such as Hava.

Re: slingbox quick question

I've been using the leaked slingmedia player, and it seems better then the official version. The one thing that has made a TON of difference for me lately, is flashing a new radio. With the stock sprint 1.03 radio i was getting maybe 15fps and 250 Kbps. Now with the telus 1.04 radio, and the same sling settings, im at 27fps and 650Kbps.
Guess im not stating any real revelations here :) A good signal is the key. Ive had slingbox for 2 years, and can finally say its playing on my touch pro as well as it did on my mogul and apache. And all because of a new radio. I never use landscape mode so i cant comment on that.

Re: slingbox quick question

I tried the hava for a while, now I have a SlingPro.

The hava was a pile of cr@p, I had NOTHING but hardware problems with it. After I had gone through three of them & saw other people online complaining of similar problems I got a refund on the hava (what a nightmare that was, hava's CS is absolutely awful) & bought the sling & all my problems where solved (that was over a year ago).

At this point, my SB setup works almost perfectly (even in landscape). I redid a bunch of stuff in my LAN recently including replacing the router (I have a Cisco WRT160N V2) & this is the first time I can honestly say it works as well as my old Titan setup did.

I use the SlingMobile setup hooked to my 7" NAV screen every day & it works super. That is always landscape as the video out automatically switches the system to landscape when you plug it in. I run Mighty 4.16 & the Telus radio.

I am using the latest official SB mobile setup. I tried the leaked beta when it was first posted & didn't see any difference at all, so the last time I reinstalled I used the official version. Other posters have said it made a big difference so it may depend on each individual system.

Re: slingbox quick question

FYI, SlingMedia has released a NEW version of the their mobile slingplayer for the Touch Pro. It is version 1.6.0.114 and it does a MUCH better job in Landscape mode.

The picture quality isn't as good as .112 IMO but it's landscape smoothness is worth it.

Do you happen to have the cab? Whenever I click 'Check for Updates' it tells me I already have the latest version.

I had an issue with not being able to download it from their site. When I'd click on the download button, nothing would happen. I had to download it from the mobile site, with my phone. I tried using IE8 AND FireFox but neither worked.

Anyway, here is the cab if anyone needs...

Re: slingbox quick question

Check craigslist for a Slingbox. I got my proHD model for $50. I use it daily and have yet to have any issues with it. Theres another thread comparring Hava and SB on here somewhere and I will admit Hava had a slightly better picture in portrait mode because it used "natural" codecs to produce the image however it requires more bandwith to get those signals. Im still running version .111 and my lanndscape mode works great. I watch alot of hockey on my TP in landscape and it does a great job even on a weak signal. If landscape mode is your biggest need then SB is what you'll need, at least until Hava figures out they're landscape issues. I wouldnt hold my breath though, its been choppy for months now and no fix in sight.

Re: slingbox quick question

So i got an update for anyone if they care.... i tried to do the orb thing first as this seemed cheapest. with hardware issues and the cost of a good coax pci card i returned it and went to the hava really enjoyed it for a week but after looking at their forums and see that there was no one there from the company even trying to help anyone out and the landscape not working i then went to the slingbox last night. couldnt get the mobile player from their site so i signed on here last night on my phone and right there it was thanks to Chuck IV he was a life saver and didnt even know it. the portrait is better on the hava and the picture all around looks better on the hava but i believe the slingbox to have more support and worth the extra 30 bucks. THANKS GEEKS!!!! appreciate everyone help

Should've asked for one. ;) I've got two WinTV PVR/USB2's sitting here. One still in an unopened package ($35+ship). The other I quit using when Orb forced its users onto the 2.0 platform (which blows donkey balls). Never had ANY issues with it. Still one of the best capture devices out there IMO.

Glad you got yours working. I went the slingbox route and am still having nothing but problems with the POS. However I'm hoping my issues revolve around my connection (household EVDO).

FYI, the leaked version is the new 114 version, you have never lied, the leaked does have better video resolution quality... On the real side, I throught that I was the only that knew that, the leaked version has the better video resolution quality without a doubt... You are 1 Billion % correct....{LOL}:headbang:

I have a brand new USB TV tuner that works with ORB (it is one of the recommended ones for that setup)

I have no use for it as all I use now is my Slingbox Pro. If anybody here wants that USB setup, PM me. I will send it free to the first person who has a need for it....

I just didn't like it as much as I thought I would and think it is ridiculous that I have to pay $40 for the mobile client on top of the $250+ I spent on the unit.

If you are interested in buing it, PM me, and we can discuss it further.
