I'm trying to understand wtf could be ****ed up to keep it from working.

When turning on the HTC, does it poll the keyboard only one time like a computer does a ps2 keyboard, or could you connect the keyboard while its already on and start to use it just fine?

ok well eff this. Stupid phone is acting like the keyboard is slid out now even though its not. Piece of trash HTC crap. Guess maybe I'll get lucky if I walk into a sprint store like everyone else.

I learned that the hard way, but yeah it's a very frustrating design flaw in the keyboard. Before the TP I had the Mogul, and went through 3 different phones because of various problems. So far this is my 2nd Touch Pro, but I've liked it enough to rebuy it when the first one went out (I didn't have insurance.)

To answer the question, I'm not sure... I would think that because the keyboard's intermittent that you could connect and be fine, otherwise you would have to restart the Touch Pro every time you have a problem, but I really don't know.

So, final update, keyboard finally gave up. Has not worked for over a week now. I now have to use the Phone Keypad with T9 with the touchscreen; very frustrating!

Overall, the phone is not totally useless if the keyboard doesn't work. Frustrating, yes. BUT, generally speaking, I would advise people who are looking at this and THINKING about purchasing the HTC Touch pro to run. Run away, and don't buy the phone!

Intermittent keyboard issues that finally gave way to it not working at all. Bought a T6 for 6 dollars at home depot. Took the phone apart, pressed on each connection put it back together and now it works.

It seems as though for some people this is a temporary fix. I have Electrical Tape ready! Will see how long it lasts.

Thanks for posting this. Made it really easy.

Hey Everyone quick question, I opened the phone up and there is a loose black wire (looks like the antenna wire) where does it go? Does it tuck along the edge of the housing before sealing the phone back up, does the end attach to anything? It looks like one end attaches underneath the boards and the other end of the wire isn't attaching to anything. I tried to locate the wire in the pictures in this post but it's black and the housing is black so it just blends into the pic and I can't see how it's positioned. Thx

If its the wire I'm thinking of, it runs along side the stylus and under that board at the bottom. You can unscrew the board and see the slot where its supposed to run.

Thx for the reply but it's a diff wire ... I took a pic and marked it in red.

It's looks like some sort of antenna wire if not for the cell reception maybe the wifi?

Thx

Huh, with as many times as i've taken this phone apart, I don't recall that wire. I'd suspect it tucks under the board around the edge by its position. Probably why i've not seen it before.

OK what drives me crazy is I took this phone apart 3x to check and reseat all the little ribbon cables to see if I could get the keyboard to be more reliable ... no luck still crappy.

So I take it apart a 4th time to see if I could remove the whole keyboard without a problem before ordering a replacement.

so I take it apart and saw no problem in replacing it myself so I go ahead and order the keyboard and pay for it.

I put everything back together and the keyboard works. So somehow actually taking the keyboard off the mount and setting it aside for 30 minutes actually got it to work better?

IDK it's been 3 days and the keyboard is working fine ... I've been hoping it would stop ... O Well I guess I'll have a spare Keyboard just in case this one goes on the fritz again.
