You don't so much wiggle it as pry it. Look at the pictures again.

Thanks a lot for the info. I tried it today on my third touch pro to have keyboard problems, but no joy. Too bad about that, but at least I know its not that. I think I will just move on up to the Hero. LOL. Thanks anyway.

Then how hard do you "wiggle it" or "pry it"? I am just asking because it seems like the keyboard one one half is nearly super glued on. I know it is not theoretically glued on, but I am just saying how hard it is to prey it open. So again, my question is did you put a lot of force to wiggle/pry it open? Because I don't want to snap the keyboard in half. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thank you...

You slide something between the keyboard and the case and it'll pop loose. I used a pocket knife. One of the pictures shows the keyboard partially loose where I pushed up on it. That's where you slide something in and pop it loose.

I finally gave it enough force; a lot of force, and it finally opened up. It was very tough to do it for some reason; not sure why. But I turned my phone back on and it works (the keyboard). Though, I am not sure if it will break down again. Thanks for your help with this threat.

By the way, here's some information for people that want to get the keyboard fixed; I got it from HTC when I emailed them about the keyboard not working:

"Hello,

"We understand why you would want your keyboard repaired on your Alltel Pro and are willing to help you in this situation. We have a company that does repairs for our Alltel devices. is there no tamper-proof protection on this phone?

I don't know about other providers, but the Sprint phone has a tiny black sticker on at least one of the screws under the back cover.

Hello Everybody,

As it turns out, I had this same problem with my Touch Pro as well... but unfortunately the electrical tape problem didn't work out for me (every problem is different I guess.) I troubleshot the problem all the way to the ribbon cable directly under the keyboard, and when I tried to re-seat that part of the cable I must have damaged it sense the keyboard wouldn't respond at all (a good idea of what not to do.)

I had an older TP that I damaged the screen on so I decided to switch the keyboard, and I took a video of it. I usually don't post (I'm a big lurker) but since alot of people have been asking questions I thought I'd post that here.

I imagine you wouldnt want to tape up those 4 contacts, whatever reason they are there for. I'm trying to fool around with this thing while its turned on since I already tried rehooking it up and putting it back together and that didnt fix it. I'm trying to understand wtf could be ****ed up to keep it from working.

When turning on the HTC, does it poll the keyboard only one time like a computer does a ps2 keyboard, or could you connect the keyboard while its already on and start to use it just fine?

ok well eff this. Stupid phone is acting like the keyboard is slid out now even though its not. Piece of trash HTC crap. Guess maybe I'll get lucky if I walk into a sprint store like everyone else.
