I have the dreaded keyboard problem. Went into Sprint. They order a replacement no questions asked. This is my 2nd replacement which isn't too bad.

is the keyboard dying something that is covered under the regular warranty. like if you bring it to sprint and it is under warranty. shouldn't this be a free fix everytime.

Should be...but there are those who have the ability to fix themselves (are skilled enough and understand the consequences) and don't want to wait for a replacement.

That being said, I think i killed my keyboard by fixing it a 3rd time.. :( basically i duct taped ribbon cable connections last time and I think I tore keyboard ribbon cable when taking it off.

(the connection came loose again because I dropped onto tile floor this morning...)

buuuut I fully expect the used market on ebay to bottom out when TP2 comes out.. I'll take advatage of that and get a phone for replacement parts.

Thanks. I've taken this phone apart so many times now I could do it in my sleep. I lost my job so unless I can convince Sprint to swap me for a TP2, I'm stuck with this one. I may take the phone apart more thoroughly one of these nights and see if I can do something about its design flaws since I seem to have some free time now.

Just thought I'd chime in that my TP keyboard also stopped working and I took it in and they ordered a refurb for me. I would have attempted to fix it myself, but there is a small sticker on one of the screws in the back, and I was afraid that if I ever had to send it back, the missing sticker might signify a warranty void or something.

I thought I was going to be stuck with a tp with a useless keyboard until I saw this thread!
Not being a brave sort when it comes to takin things like this apart I opted to take it to this shop that someone told me about.
I mentioned this thread and of course this site and told him about the fix. $20 bucks later I am once again a texting, writing fool!
It has been 4 weeks and it's still working! Thanks again!

i feel my third keyboard dying already! right on time actually.. every two months. i just order a new keyboard part every time and the techs tape it down but i think the movement still causes the ribbons to tear. i could so use an aftermarket keyboard... lol

Yeah, my keyboard is completely shot now. I'm also stuck in landscape and my accelerometer seems to be dead. I'm gonna try to hold out to the 8th and see what Sprint does.
