Have you tried adding by MEID instead of the ESN? (Not sure if this will work) |

You've got to be kidding me, what kind of a stupid response is that?? Thanks for the laugh anyway (I'm still chuckling over that one....) ~John |
Re: Verizon won't activate my Sprint Touch Pro
Ill say this..there has been much change to the network with esn processing (especially since the acquisition of the guy in Blue) which is why the loophole is now being plugged up. We wont be anywhere near an open network until our LTE (4G) comes to past (and even still I see regulation depending on the device)
only real way I see anyone getting it back on is to somehow convince of adding the esn/meid to the database (which can be done manually). Only a few people have that type of access however and it will be tough to try and get it added. anyways just my input. |
Re: Verizon won't activate my Sprint Touch Pro
The silly thing is, why would Verizon even care what phone you're using??
When you use a Sprint phone (like I am) it seems like a total win for VZ. They don't make their money from hardware sales, they make it from the monthly service fees (which are higher than any other company) When you use a Sprint phone, they don't have to give you any tech support at all or repair it if it breaks & you're still paying the same monthly fee as if you where using a VZ phone. It seems to me that VZ wins all the way around in that scenario. ~John |
Re: Verizon won't activate my Sprint Touch Pro
Supposedly that's the route that VZW will eventually be going (i.e. "we'll activate it, but if you have any service issues at all, you're SOL"). To be fair, VZW is currently the only CDMA carrier to even have any sort of open access development. At this point it's pretty much restricted to telemetry devices, but this should change in the future.
I also find it funny that people are griping about a loophole being patched in VZW's network. Call up Sprint and ask them to activate a BlackBerry Storm or something for you and check out their reaction. I can't believe anyone is actually up in arms over this happening. ESNs will absolutely not be added to the database unless it passes the VZW "network tests", as outlined in the OD FAQ's on the website. Again, at this point it is restricted to specific data and telemetry devices so requesting to send off your Sprint Touch Pro would likely be a waste of time. THEORETICALLY, and this goes for Sprint and VZW both, an ESN could manually be added to the switch, but billing system/switch ESN mismatches are usually detected automatically by the system and are fixed (with the billing system having the final say). I'm curious about what will happen when the Alltel conversion is complete. You 'ought to be able to activate an Alltel Touch Pro at that point with no problems, and it's basically a carbon copy of the Sprint model. |

if they refuse to activate your TP, show them the crime deterrent capabilities of it.

It might be appropriate to kill this thread as I seem to have created something redundant. Sorry about that. This thread is filled with info about the problem that I am having. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=61926 Just FYI, Verizon Tech Support was actually very eager to help. But of course unable to fix my activation problem. They did however provide an email address to send activation requests. handsetlocksettlement@verizonwireless.com I sent an email last night describing my issue and I am currently waiting for a response. |

Did you ever receive a response to your email?
