new opera in cab here (so far loads all webpages as desktop and not mobile)

1 Attachment(s)
i hadnt seen this posted anywhere...there are alot of threads about opera so i may have missed it...sorry mods if i did or this isnt aloud to be posted...

this is the opera build from the diamond 2 and or touch pro 2...so far this is way better then the one stock on the pro...its faster and the zoom is better and easier...and i have found that it loads most of my everyday sites in fll desktop style instead of the mobile site...i say most cuz there is still one that dont and that one being colts.com...the others like my fantasy sports sites and other sporting team sites loaded in desktop style...
i see alot of post asking how 2 load full sites so this version may be better for some of those ppl...no added registry tweaks involved after download...check it out

Thanks for posting caddieguy. One quick question though, do embedded videos work on youtube? Not a huge deal considering all the other apps available to use instead, but im just curious. Either way, sounds nice enough to try :) Thanks again.

Re: new opera in cab here (so far loads all webpages as desktop and not mobile)

i have been using it for about a week now...so far i have no problems...what impressed me is that i use rss hub alot...and when reading articles on the hub it loads opera alot faster then the stock version...

Re: new opera in cab here (so far loads all webpages as desktop and not mobile)

will this overwrite the stock Opera on my TP (as in, when I click brower in my TF3D will it open this?) or is it going to be another separate browser in my programs list?

WTF?...

"Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions."

Nice post though, looking forward to getting this working......

Re: new opera in cab here (so far loads all webpages as desktop and not mobile)

If this is already out there, i apologize. i tried to google it and couldn't really find anything. Is there a build list with the different builds of Opera and which is the most current? It would be helpful to see what enhancements are in each build so you know if it's worth upgrading.

Ovendoor, check the version. It might have installed. It always says it was unsuccessful when I install but its always installs.

does anyone know how to make flash lite run more smoothly? on skyfire i can goto www.watch-movies-links.net and watch full movie...but its choppy as hell...where opera+flash lite is near perfect...with minor draw back...any suggestions?

Check the version in opera, I like others had to use a 3rd party task manager to kill the opera processes to get it to take and install.

Here is the discussion on it: also has the link to the XDA thread in it as well.

Load opera and open the help screen, then select the "About Opera". If your build is now 15613 then it worked. It's always unsuccessful for me but it updates anyway.

skyfire's webbrowser is special for the reason that it does flash video flawlessly. thats the only reason people use skyfire over opera. other then that opera is killing in every other aspect if you ask me. but to answer your question they can get close skyfire's flash, but it will never be as good.

Re: new opera in cab here (so far loads all webpages as desktop and not mobile)

If I install this on a stock Sprint TP, and it doesn't work well for me, is there a reasonably easy way to go back to the stock Opera? Or would that require a hard reset?

Don't worry about it, this is definitely better then the stock opera, by far. I gurantee you won't want to go back, but you would have to do a hard reset to remove it.

Re: new opera in cab here (so far loads all webpages as desktop and not mobile)

This isn't working for me. Or rather, Flash isn't.

I installed this Opera version, then the official Flash Lite. No video. It then occurred to me that the Flashvideobundle from Tech's stuff was probably goofing things up, so I uninstalled Flashvideobundle, then reinstalled Flash Lite. Still nothing.

So how are people getting this to work?

By the way, http://powerdeck.sprint.com no longer recognizes the Touch Pro in this browser.

I don't use flash but my opera works way better then the stock, which doesn't have flash also.
To fix the homepage in the address bar type in opera:config>user pref> custom user agent> then type in
"Mozilla/4.0 (compatible;MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11) Sprint PPC6850SP"

I think I was having the same problem you are. In any text entry field i would be able to type 1 letter on the hardware keyboard, and then it seemed like the cursor would jump out of the text field. I would then have to touch the screen again to put the cursor in the text field. Is that the problem your having? Do you have the keyboard light fix installed?

Once you set the agent to the above the phone will no longer load full websites but rather mobile. Just a note.

This Opera version requires Juggalo X Flash Lite. Flash on web pages then plays properly.

Thanks. I decided that when I really need a mobile version (e.g., of Powerdeck), I'll just use Internet Explorer.

Re: new opera in cab here (so far loads all webpages as desktop and not mobile)

This version is somewhat buggy, as others have mentioned. The menu square at the bottom-right often disappears, although I can usually resuscitate it by going Back (available in the menu that appears when you hold down on the page). Flash videos play, but with white squares in the upper left and lower right.

This version did also lock up my Touch Pro once.

Re: new opera in cab here (so far loads all webpages as desktop and not mobile)

This version of Opera is running really smooth and its really quick to load the pages. I installed Juggalo X Flashlite works pretty good with you tube but I had the same problem with white squares in the upper left. I uninstalled flashlite, I prefer using skyfire for watching video. By far my favorite Opera browser so good looking out.

Im running Mighty ROM w/ Opera Mobile 9.5.15954. Which is one is the latest Opera App?

Re: new opera in cab here (so far loads all webpages as desktop and not mobile)

Not sure if anyone else had this problem but after installing the new opera it would launch itself automatically even after turning off the screen it would launch itself and turn on my screen pretty annoying does anyone else have this problem or possibly a fix, I had to uninstall opera to temperately fix the issue, or if someone has the stock TP opera rom to reinstall that. Thanks Nick

Re: new opera in cab here (so far loads all webpages as desktop and not mobile)

The loss of the lower-right menu button is trying my patience. Others apparently solved this simply by uninstalling Flash Lite. Is there perhaps another version of Flash Lite that doesn't have this problem? Or another version of Opera that works with Flash Lite but doesn't have this problem?

lgmayka 03-25-2009 06:32 PM

Re: new opera in cab here (so far loads all webpages as desktop and not mobile)

The 15945 build of Opera retains the menu button properly, though it still doesn't always handle embedded Youtube videos well. (Youtube videos embedded in, say, a forum thread tend to float around and follow you instead of staying put.)
