iPod Touch 2G using Touch Pro data
I wanted to know what is the easiest/best way to connect my iPod Touch 2G to my Touch Pro so I can use my Touch Pro's internet connection on the iPod?

Re: iPod Touch 2G using Touch Pro data
You can use wmwifirouter to create a WiFi hotspot on your TP that you can connect to from your iPod Touch. That WiFi hotspot will be tethering data from the TP to the Touch.

Re: iPod Touch 2G using Touch Pro data
bump bump bump on WMWIFIROUTER!!!
I have a iPod Touch 2G...I turn my TP into its own little wifi hotspot how awesome is that!!! Then again, my TP does things that my iPod touch OR an iPhone only dream of anyway! http://www.wmwifirouter.com/ ok, there's the link. It is no longer free...there are cabs out there for the betas and such. The paid version is $30. I don't "buy" a lot of software...but this one I shelled out for and it is COMPLETELY worth it. |
Re: iPod Touch 2G using Touch Pro data
Let me ask you guys this... If I have no service on my phone, but I'm at a computer, and I hook it up via active sync, I get internet connectivity. Can I then transmit that internet connectivity or does it need to have it's own evdo connection?

I also have a rather new 16 gig ipod touch. Whenever I have it with me, I use WmWifirouter to connect it to the net (& it's worth every penny they charge for it). Much as I hate to admit it, the safari browser & the super responsive screen blows away anything I have in my TP fror regular inet browsing (opera mini is good, but safari is still better) ~John |

WMWifiRouter v.91 is freeware, before the software was commercialised. The software copyright for any version before v.91 is free for personal/non-commercial use

I'm pretty sure I posted v.81 here a little while back when I had my mogul that didn't play nice with v.91. I found that a rebuilt v.80 worked great and I shared it with whoever needed it. For some reason I can't find that post of mine anymore. // ah here it is http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...irouter&page=2 |

Well here it is then. If the guy gets mad that I'm posting software of his that was freeware at one point, I'll take it down. Otherwise, this is the latest version before it cost money. Unzip, run the exe while connected via active sync.
Hey does anyone know how to extract the cab out of these type of installs? I'd like to add this to my cab collection... |

Hey, look in your program files folder in the root drive of your comptuer. If you followed the normal installation path it should look like this C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\WMWifiRouter That is where mine was at i just copied it from there. :headbang: |

Re: iPod Touch 2G using Touch Pro data
I don't have a problem with anybody posting 0.91 as it was always freeware, but this is one program that I gladly paid for.
The guy who wrote this is a great guy & this is such a useful program that I am glad to help support it. I recently had all kinds of problems getting it work consistently in my three TouchPro's & I tried everything under the sun to fix it. It seems other people where having the same problems & there is a new version about to be released. I have a beta copy of the new version & it works perfectly, so anybody who is having problems with any current version hang in there -the new version should be posted soon. ~John |
