how to make an mp3 your sms ringtone
download your choice of mp3 to your device (internal memory suported) then copy the file, paste in another file, rename Alert-"whatever your song is" cut device/windows/paste, and it will be in your list of sounds.
for trimmed verz. trim mp3, save to ringtones folder, my device/my documents/my ringtones, repeat above steps... hope this helps
