MMS is a PITA

I have a Sprint TP running one of scroslers ROM's with Arcsoft cooked into it & activated on Verizon.

One week ago, everything worked perfectly. Now, my MMS seems to have stopped working & I can't figure out why for the life of me.

My texts still send/receive just fine & I can email a pic, but MMS gives me the "Originator address not found" error. All my EPST settings seem to be correct & all the Arcsoft server & reg setting seem to be fine also. I saw this error once back in the Titan/Mogul days but I'll be damned if I can remember what the fix was. I have unlimited data/texting/MMS on my Nationwide corporate account.

I have an older xv6800 that will send/receive MMS just fine & I went through all the settings side by side & they are appear to be identical. Verizon claims everything is fine on their end & can't explain it.

This is not the end of the world as I send about two MMS pics a year, but it did work last week & I would like it to work again like it's supposed to.

Anybody got any clues here??

Arcsoft, same as what WAS working in the TP.

Hmmmmm. Very interesting. The version you installed on the TP, is it the same version you installed on the TP?

My thinking and I'm probably wrong and someone will chime in and correct me after I post this: even though you changed the ROM to the VZW ROM, there are still some underlining processes going on in the background. I know Sprin's Picturemail program that was released for the Mogul, gave you the option of uploading to your Picturemail account, Picsa, or etc.... I wonder if you installl that, then have it set to either upload to your VZW account or Picsa, would it solve the problem?


From what I've read arcsoft goes down pretty frequently. So its probably an issue with them and not VZW.

I don't believe it's the same version of Arcsoft (I cooked it into scroslers ROM, but added it as a cab to the 6800 after flashing with DCD 3.2.6), but the versions all basically do the same thing.

Usually as long as the server settings & the reg entries are correct it simply works & that's that. I have no idea what Originator address not found means or how to fix it.

I did find that exact error doing a Google search, but none of the listed fixes made any difference.

i assume you haven't tried hard resetting yet... maybe make a backup with sprite, and hard reset and see what happens, and then restore it and see if that brings the problem back, then you at least know where to start looking.

Well, instead of hard resetting I decided to simply reflash it & see what happened.

I did that & MMS worked fine. At that point, just for the heck of it I decided to restore a Sprite BU file I made a few days ago. The BU was made after the problem started, so I really didn't know what to expect from that.

When it was done restoring the phone worked perfectly & MMS still works also so who knows what the heck the problem actually was...............

Please try sMMS , it is a great little app that somehow works right off the bat though the other ones seem to have issues. I am using it on Mighty's Rom right now, no problem
