All-In-One Touch Pro Camera Hidden Mode Mod

So after flashing a beta ROM sometime back, I was presented with an option in my camera settings that I have since been trying to chase down.

It was the option to save to the Storage Card and be able to use the "Date & Time" as the prefix, which by default is only allowed when you save to the main memory.

Now after tons of searching and finding out way more info about the camera than I ever really wanted to know, I've finally found that ONE setting to do the above. Yup, it came down to 1 reg tweak.

But more than that, I noticed that though there is a ton of info out about the camera, it's settings and special non-enabled modes... there's really not one good place to go about finding that info.


That is what i hope to do here.
And that is what this Cab does.


First I will post the cab I made that will basically turn on all these special modes for you and fine tune/tweak the settings for these new modes.

Second I will post the actual reg entries it makes/changes and what those do.



I want to make it very clear that I didn't pioneer most of the work done by this cab, I simply extracted the data from the registry, put it together, and posted the settings it changes in one place.

For me, the origins of these settings came from a beta ROM I tested from scrosler... and a provxml he used to build that ROM must have contained these settings. So if these look familiar to you, please let me know and I will give credit where credit is do!

Everything that is touched by this cab can be found at:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera and it's subs.

So while this cab is uninstallable, backing this location up before installation is always a safe bet... and with that i will toss in the standard, if you break it, it's not my fault... yada yada yada.

Here I'll be posting all the raw reg entries and what they do.....


EDIT: In the meantime though, i'll post some basics of what the cab does.

Adds the following shooting modes:
-Burst
-Sports
-GPS
-Video Share


-Sets Burst and Sports mode to 3 MegaPixel

-Sets Panoramic mode to 7 MegaPixel

-Edits Video Frame rate for higher quality.

-Removes the use of the of the "DCMI\100MEDIA" directoiry when saving to the Storage Card.

-Allows save to "My Documents\My Pictures" on the Storage Card.

-Allows for "Default", "Date" & "Date & Time" prefixing of images when saving to the Storage Card.



.... and more, just wanted to get a basic description up.
I managed to delete my txt file detailing all the settings and description so I'll have to redo it... that took me forever to format it all nicey nice and stuff. Damn!



EDIT II: OK, this isn't what I had in mind, but like I said, I accidentally deleted my description file, so for all of you that want to see what's in this cab, this is for you...... until I remake one with all the descriptions anyway.

The camera mode changes have been available through Diamond Configuration tools for sometime now.

Nice that it's all cabbed up though

Yeah... i just don't really like those apps, like to be a little more in control.

EDIT: Plus i dont think any of the tweak apps have the ability to prefix the images with date and time to the storage card... and ultimately that's all i wanted to do.

Actually, that's already in the cab too!

Has anybody else made these changes?

When the Burst and Sport resolutions are changed to 3MP it pretty much makes it unusable.

Let me know if this is just me. I had to go back and adjust mine back to 1MP and it works fine now.

I do have to say that it does save a bit slower at 3MP... but by no means would I call it unusable.

Several factors could be involved here... speed of SD card, running programs other than camera even the ROM you are using.

I am using a Class 6 SD there shouldn't be much of an issue. I also tried changing the default save location back to the device with similar results.

You are right its not unusable, but the inconvenience of the excessive lag makes it so I would not want to use it for modes with names such as "Sport" or "Burst".

this didn't add the date and time to my file name. It did change the location to My Pictures though.

This cab enables the functionality it doesn't turn it on. You have to Open the camera and tap the screen, then Hit the Cog for settings, then go to advanced then go to about page 4 and set the prefix to date & time.

after installing the cab file on the sprint touch pro, no pictures will save to my storage card. If i switch to main memory, then it'll save. My storage card does not have a "my documents" folder and pocket explorer will not grant access to create a new my documents folder in the storage card. what's the registry change to allow the DCIM folder again?

connect your phone to your comp find the file you need to creat a new folder in and go that route.

correction to my previous post - the falsh being on the whole time before you take the picture is the most annoying. the lack of those other options that have been fixed came in a close second.

I know man, that really bugged me as well! When i was flashing alot in the beginning, every time i would i would start over writing my old photos... plus, just no good way to "at a glance" tell when i took it.

love the color commentary! and i totally know what you're saying... I very rarely use the flash at all simply for the "blinding" factor.

Nothing in the reg settings is jumping right out at me however on changing this... but i will dig a bit deeper, and get back to ya on it.

That should actually be pretty easy... I'll look into it for you.
I don't think I'll add it to this cab as I'm not a super huge flash fan... but i can certainly make you patch if i find the setting for you.

All I want to change is the prefix for the image with the date and time... So if you could give a girl a hand with that one I would appreciate it.

And if someone could figure out how to make the flash only flash when you snap the picture that would be awesome too.

OK... this assumes you are comfortable in the reg, if so, try this:

On your storage card if it doesn't already exist, create:
My Documents\My Pictures

In the reg change the value (DWORD Data) of:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\General
"EnableDCMI" from "1" to "0"

Now when you start the camera:
tap the screen -> tap the cog wheel -> tap advanced
on page 2 make sure "Storage" is set to "Storage Card"
on page 4 make sure "Prefix" is set to "Date & Time"

You may need to soft reset after the reg change... and as always PLEASE be sure to BACKUP your reg BEFORE you mod it!

That one works for me too, phattooth. Thanks. I'm slow to put anything that's irreversible on my TP but I wanted that particular fix.

That's actually the only one I was looking for when I ended up opening the can of worms that became all the other mods in the above cab! HA, Amazing what we find when we start pokin around abit! ;-)

BTW, the cab in this thread is nothing more than a bunch of reg edits... so if you back up your reg ahead of time, you can totally uninstall the cab and re-import your backed up reg settings... tada, back to stock!

Having said that, I'm totally the same way about blindly installing cabs... I usually just don't! But that's also why I posted the guts of the changes in the code box above.

Anyway... just an FYI to future readers more than anything.
