Re: Possible to stop a stock app install without flashing?
When you do a flash or hard reset and the phone first boots, you can stop the customizations very easily. When it says it is about to run customizations and shows the 3 second countdown window, do a soft reset, which will stop the customizations from running.
Other than that, I do not know of an easy and safe way to remove it once it has been installed via the initial customizations...

Re: Possible to stop a stock app install without flashing?
Yea,
This is the way it was on my Mogul - but I tried it on the TP the other day, and it just went right back to the customization screen... maybe I did it wrong... If it DOES work, then this may be the ticket (although there will be MANY cabs to install manually).... Later, Matt! |

soft reset phone 3 times immediately after today screen shows...(before you see anything about customizations)

I restarted that phone a good 20 times in a row trying to stop the customizations & every single time it tried to do them as soon as it restarted. I finally gave up & talked him into using a custom ROM.................. ~John |

Damn, that's crazy. I can't say that i can duplicate because i flashed a custom within 10 minutes of use when i got my TP lol.
Sux that the soft reset trick doesn't work anymore. -s

Re: Possible to stop a stock app install without flashing?
I don't know if I did something stupid (it wouldn't be the first time)
There was a big long thread about this back when the TP first came out, & I remember other people having the same problem, but I don't remember if it was ever resolved successfully. IIRC, that thread was started by someone like me who was using a Sprint TP on Verizon service. I just used a different ROM, but the original poster wanted to use the Sprint ROM for some reason & didn't want all the Sprint garbage installed. ~John |
