Pro vs. CD player (pro lost)

Ok so ive had my PRO for about 48 hours now and Ive already broke it.
My touch screen is toasted. I plugged my phone into my girlfriends cd player in her car to see if it would pick up as a mass storage device and play music off the memory card. Yea so that was a bad idea. After about 30 seconds I noticed that the phone was showing a charge. My first thought was "thats wierd" then I started to smell something burning. I quickly unplugged the phone. All seemed well until about 12 hours later when the touch screen went totally unresponsive. Thinking it was my rom I promptly hard reset and reflashed. all went well until i realized I couldnt recalibrate my screen. (cussing)

Well at least i can still make and recieve calls using the keyboard keys. SO the point to take home here is this: Disable charging while connected to PC if you want to play in your cars CD player.

Wow, what kind of USB does that car CD player have to put out that much more power than a normal USB??? I'd be afraid to plug any kind of mem card in there too ... thats definately NOT normal

Do people seriously use those USB ports on their CD players? Huh, who knew...and here I was thinking I was crazy for streaming over bluetooth.

I think the main problem was that the cd player didnt regulate the power because it wasnt designed to charge devices. I think it pushed all 12 volts through the cd player to my phone.

It works fine with a memory card or regular jump drive.

If it wasn't designed to charge devices, then why did they use a data/power port instead of just a data port? It's got to be something wrong with the CD player. If it is designed to push power as well, it's pushing way too much.

Maybe it is designed for a Full Size Portable Hard Drive. idk ....they need a lot of juice.

Definitely an issue with your cd player, I use my phone in that way all the time since my phone has all my newest music and it charges while doing it
