Re: What's the best backup program?
Here is my word, I restored with all back ups and they all work. So use at your discretion. Resco is a bit more detailed and may throw an error because it is seing one, it may absolutely be no big deal. I still use all 3 and restored my last one with Resco and all is good.

I am still testing all these systems & will start doing some serious restores from all of them on a spare TP I have sitting here. I will do backups with all four programs, then hard reset the TP & then do full restores from all of them. The system is fully loaded, the BU files are just over 200 MB in size so it is really a great test. I also like Resco programs, I think Resco File Explorer is a MUST have (& I use Resco Pro KB & their Pro Photo viewer at times also) so I am not trying to cut down Resco either. ~John |
Re: What's the best backup program?
Let me know how that works for you. I already did backup/restore with all three and and have been doing it for a while, they all work well and are life savers when out and about and something goes south. I still back up with all three and save BU's on my flash drive and lappy. I am comfortable with all 3. Point blank

from their review: I had one problem using Resco Backup that required some intervention from Resco support. Before restoring a backup archive, Resco Backup attempts to stop any running applications to prevent any problems during the restore. On my T-Mobile Wing, one of the applications could not be stopped and the restore operation hung indefinitely without ever restoring any files. The only way to regain control of the device was to perform a soft reset. At the time of writing, I am still in the process of resolving the problem with Resco support through e-mail. Though the issue is serious, support has been responsive and I expect a resolution that will allow me to successfully restore data from my backup archive. Clearly other people have experienced problems with this software also. |

It's a very basic program and the "About" page shows it was made some years ago. HTC did the right thing to not bundle it with any current devices. Maybe it's me not knowing how to use it properly, but other backup programs can get going without the user having to know much at all. |

Re: What's the best backup program?
I went with Sprit backup, mainly because of the 50% off deal for Sprite backup and Terminator.
While I haven't restored anything, it hasn't had any issues creating backups. |

Re: What's the best backup program?
The Resco Backup issue of hanging the device has been around for quite a while. I was never able to get it to run on my 800W. SPBBackup takes 30 up to 30 minutes on my Touch Pro and generally gives an error message of a bad backup. Sprite (paid for) is running fine though.
