Re: Acer to Hack a Touch Pro

i've ran Soldier of Fortune 2 Multiplayer Test(DEMO)

and it ran really well. my first weekend with it, and i flashed my phone to mighty rom, and installed SOF2 was really fun, and i've also had it as a desktop setup the other night, since i have a USB KVM Switch, i just kinda mess around with it.

I'm going to install Counterstrike 2d(my favorite game of all time) and see how well it handles it.

it can take the flash games on addictinggames.com with ease i'll tell you that :]

Get the acer. I have the white model with Windows 7 running on it. I also have XP running on it as well since it comes with it pre-iinstalled. Vista runs excellent, just get all the correct drivers and use the drivers from the xp partition. the wireless is a little finicky on win 7 and vista, that is until the Atheros chip makers update their drivers for win vista and win 7. I flashed my Diamond and my pro just fine.

I did consider buying a netbook to take back and forth to work, but when i played with one at the local staples store the tiny little keyboard drove me insane( i believe it was a acer one 8.9") and the prce was comparable to a full size laptop on sale. i have also considered buying them for my smaller children, do they perfom well with online flash games? will they play games such as half life? and are they pretty sturdy?

Size and price, plain and simple. I have an MSI Wind and I love it. It has a 10 inch screen, Atom 1.6 ghz CPU (most common netbook CPU), 1 gb of RAM, 80 gb hard drive, and the keyboard is very usable. Depending on the model and trim, you can get a netbook for as low as $300 with a 9 or 10 inch screen that weighs around 2.5 pounds. You're going to spend a hell of a lot more than that for a very small 12 inch laptop. Netbooks definitely require a few compromises but for a few hundred bucks and for near laptop-like performance, they can be excellent. I use mine every day tethered with my Touch Pro and it's been one of the best purchases I've made recently.

if when i plug my phone into my acer and my phone gives me the option of using it as a modem, does that mean sprint's going to charge me for using it as a modem or would it not matter since i have unlimited data?

Re: Acer to Hack a Touch Pro

so, i returned the Acer, it was TOO much compromise for me. since i used it as a desktop a lot with my KVM switch, the icons would bunch as it would be in its original form, and i couldnt live with that.

the long startups, the tinyness, hunching over when sitting at a table to use it. the bottons on the side of the trackpad.

i just couldnt live with the Acer Aspire One. so i returned it to fry's and those a holes over there charge 35 damn dollars to get XP to the welcome screen, i dont think that's very reasonable, especially since i removed all the added apps, had everything basically factory default other than my name being on the login(with no password)

i should've made those them work for that 35 and add viruses and make a bunch of accounts and partitioned the drive, BUT i didnt know they'd surprise me with that 35 so i didnt set them up ahead of time.

whatever though, i have the Acer sleeve and they didnt say it was missing from the box so whatever. 35 dollar netbook cover FTW!

im gonna get myself a macbook air, or just a macbook unibody and dualboot.

I also got an MSI Wind with 160 gb hd, 6 cell battery, wireless n, bluetooth for $370 from j & r. upgraded ram to 2 gb from 1 gb for less than $10 on ebay. Nice light laptop for traveling as i always bring a laptop when i travel (used to lug around a 6 lb 15 inch).

been tethering with usb from day one. still trying to figure out how to tether using bluetooth. anyone tether using bluetooth and wmodem, please let me know.

Re: Acer to Hack a Touch Pro

seems like everyone's going with wmwifi router and doing it via bluetooth with a dongle(if they're using the acer)

the MSI can dualboot if you run OSX leopard on it right?
