Re: Push Email?
My phone does it out of the box..... unless i have the definition of push wrong. Just go to sync settings and instead of update every 5 minutes choose as items arrive

Re: Push Email?
basically what your having outlook do is PULL the email off the server every few seconds... a real battery drainer. PUSH email is where the program opens an idle connection with the server (i remember reading somewhere this typically lasts 10 minutes depending on the ISP server and the mail server), and the server will alert the program when i new item arrives by responding to the https request that opened the connection. the program will then initiate a send/receive command in outlook for that particular mailbox. so where "as items arrive" will cause outlook to send/recieve every few seconds or so, true push email only uses your data connection once every 10 minutes or so, unless you get a new message.

Re: Push Email?
Seven KILLS the battery! It's nice, except for the fact that my phone is just about dead by 3:30PM! I have to charge my phone at least once per day just to keep it turned on. That's with light use, maybe some sms, a couple calls, and maybe some minor web browsing. I am generally pretty busy at work all day and barely use it - Work for a bank. I have taken Seven off and have signed up for a mail2web account. So will check out free push with MS Exchange from mail2web and let you know. My battery already seems better.
Besides I've had my Yahoo! email account for 14 years now and it constantly fills with spam. Might have something to do with all the porn sites that said free with a vaild email address? ;) They never give you free porn, maybe adware or viruses though! Who knows gonna spend the time today while I wait for "The Big Game" (Superbowl) changing all of my accounts and having all of my email sent to my new mail2web account. It will be a nice change to actually receive real email for a change, instead of take this pill to lose weight, get bigger, or grow hair! WTF? Who gets paid to send this crap? |

Re: Push Email?
I went with FlexMail as an alternative to Pocket Outlook. It hands POP and PUSH very well, though with a large file attachment slowdowns do occur.

Re: Push Email?
Yeah... It has been about 5 hours since I made the changes and I already notice an increase in battery over Seven.
