Maybe once I get a cradle or something for the car it will make a difference, but in my car (Subaru Legacy) the phone fits just fine in front of the shifter. If I were trying to actually look at the phone it may be a different story. |

Re: Car Stereo Sony MEX-BT2600 / Touch Pro combinations...
ok here is something interesting i just happen to come across when using the tp and my sony mex-bt2600 stereo.
I used the gps for the first time since getting this new head unit and what i noticed was that the audio from the gps prompts wasnt going through the radio speakers at all. I know with my old stereo i ran the tp with a cassette adapter and it would play the all the phones audio even gps even when i was streaming music from the phone. There are two different bluetooth source settings on this head unit one is the bt phone which is where you go to make an outgoing phone call and the other is the bt audio where you go to hear your streaming music from phone. Maybe I have to be in bt audio source mode in order to hear phone audio prompts and gps but then i would be able to listen to radio or xm. is there something i missed or some trick to getting all my audio from phone to go out to the stereo? any help is greatly appreciated as always! |

Re: Car Stereo / Touch Pro combinations...
Well I went with Alpine and their new Parrot BT. In my car with two chamber flow masters with turndown pipes in my SS camaro people can't even tell I am driving in my car. The audio is clear, no echo and the unit pulls in my contacts. I use voice command from the deck with no problems. The a2dp sounds just as clear as my iPod, but I really use the iPod more than everything else.
I got mostly everything from crutchfield but wow what a nice Apline sound. I pulled out from Pioneer do to the lack of auto eq, and multi band eq's. Spec of what I deployed iDA-X100 retail $400us I got mine for 120 bucks new from a local retailer. New unit on the block is the iDA-X305 retails for $350us CE-400BT Bluetooth® Interface Module, Powered by Parrot Retails for $180us but you can get it crutchfield for $149us http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500KCE4...arch=KCE-400BT I did pair it up with a TUA-T550HD HD Radio Tuner Box and PXA-H100 IMPRINT Audio Processor Bottom line is the Parrot box seems to work really well. I am not sure if Sony or Pioneer are offering that as an outboard option yet.

I think that the sony head unit separates the gateways and you have to run one or the other but not both at the same time. I see two icons at the top bar of the phone. One is headphone looking one and the other is the bluetooth. The head unit has three icons on at the same time a bluethooth, handsfree phone, and an audio. Who knows I will just have to mess around some more and see what happens. Thanks anyway! |

Re: Car Stereo / Touch Pro combinations...
Finally got around to getting an MEX-BT2700 and getting it installed. It's great. I haven't had any problems with the mic like the reviews for the BT2600 seemed to have. Loving the audio streaming, used it for Audible books and Sprint Nav so far.

Re: Car Stereo Sony MEX-BT2600 / Touch Pro combinations...
This is correct... any audio other than phone calls you must be in BT Audio mode. And it will play all audio in that mode... i.e. you can stream internet radio, minimize it, and then turn on Sprint NAV, and you'll hear nav prompts over top of the music. But you will not be able to listen to CD, tuner, aux, etc. and get anything out of the phone other than calls. But I don't see how you could have done that with the cassette adapter either.
