Help with UC

I have never used UC. I was trying to just get a solid ROM configured correctly and be done with it, but I've learned that will never happen... there is always a problem with my ROM (never apparent until after a few days of use) and there are always new ROMs with new features I want to try.

...so, can someone point me in the right direction on setting up this UC thing?

Things I would like it to do automaticly after a hard reset (new ROM):

1) Install a bunch of CABs.
2) Copy a bunch of files to the windows folder (manila, icons, etc).
3) Apply registry settings.
4) (probably impossible) Restore all my call-history, SMS/MMS, and "People" speed dials (I just installed DashWire and am hoping it can do this for me)

Other tools I need:
1) A registry monitor that allows me to run it, then make changes to all the settings in windows, manila, and every other program that I install, and then generate a registry backup of only the changes I just made. Ideally this would configure my Exchange and GMail accounts as well as the "settings" page for any app I have installed including Advanced Config and other tweaking tools.
2) (if #4 above is possible) A way to backup all my call-history, SMS/MMS, and speed-dials (DashWire?).

I just want to configure everything once and then never have to do it again, even after installing a new rom. ...and I don't want to lose my call-history and SMS/MMS after a hard-reset.

Is this possible with UC? How do I get started?

Thanks. A big thanks in general for this entire forum and everyones pacince with newbies like me. (I did search and I do figure a lot out on my own, but this UC thing has me stumped)

Watching this thread because I really need to learn about UC... I'm guessing it's User Customization and I've seen it run after a hard reset/flash, but if it can install programs for me on top of a ROM, I'm all for that... Anyone have a primer on UC?

Thanks. Here's the short version of what I learned:

Put SDConfig.txt in the root of your SD card.
Edit it to add cabs to install.

Put an XML file somewhere that SDConfig.txt points to.
Edit it to make file-changes, reg-changes, and email-accounts.
(for each email account, be sure to make a GUID)

Links to reg capture apps and other useful stuff are in the thread just above the first [ code ] block.

No file changes (liking copying a file already on your SD card to somewhere on the device) happens in SDConfig.txt via the CPY1, CPY2. For example there's a plugin I want to install with Pocket Player.

Code:

CPY1:\Storage Card\EnEs\gen_audioscrobbler.dll
CPY2:\Program Files\Pocket Player\gen_audioscrobbler.dll

CPY1 is the location of the file, CPY2 is where I want it to be copied. See the list of comands in the second link, those are all in SDConfig.txt, not provisioning.

Also don't forget to read the info on CABs that require user input!

Personally, Instead of dozens of CPY commands, I just combined up all my manila and icon mods into a few cabs. Alot less clutter that way and easily removable if necessary.

You can use PIM backup to backup your call history, SMS, calendar, etc...

The way I have my UC set up, I just have to enter a few serial numbers, sync my contacts and do one reg edit which is impossible to accomplish with an xml file (requires different language)

I may be overlooking some options, but is there a way to use the xml file to create my exchange account, or is it only possible to perform that option for IMAP/POP?
