Both downloaded and the device automatically reset after each install. Both work perfectly! Mad props for ya Cyber, you're AWESOME!!! How come no one else does it this way?

Not sure. I started making the cab for those back when I used the HTC Touch....but now (as pointed out earlier) if you have the advanced config, you can save the files to you device and should be able to set it to those files (without renaming and stuff) within advanced config tool

I don't do it that way b/c renaming and moving the files only takes about 20 seconds to do.

I started for the people who were not experienced at that and were unsure and stuff....so I started doing to make it simple for them, and back then it just grew and people liked it.

So as long as somebody asks to have a cab made, I shall do it for them :)

I do what I can. I like to be helpful, specially for people that visit sites that I like (ppcgeeks for example)

Re: Splash screens and startup animations

Damn, I must look lazy! haha, but really, he's right. I don't know how to rename all the stuff, I;'ve even tried using TC and what not. It just didn't work.

Question, though.

When I did download the cab files, my "slide to answer" no longer "slid" and my ringers have reset. They were fine until I downloaded those cabs.

Would I need to just re-download the answer to slide cabs to overwrite, oorrr...what happened? lol

There are alot of files in the windows folder... could you happen to mention the name?

Re: Splash screens and startup animations

Oh...sorry, I though you were just wanting to know where to copy the file to. On a stock Sprint Touch Pro, it is Startup_640x480.gif. Check out post 90 in this thread for instructions on how to change it.

I am pretty sure they are hidden files. Will have to be able to view hidden files to see it.
Resco File Explorer or Total Commander should allow you to see them (will need one of them to replace the file anyways, unless you have a cab installer made)

Re: Splash screens and startup animations

ok so now when i boot up i still see the yellow sprint splash animation followed by my joker pic! before quickly loading my main start screen.

How do i remove the sprint splash animation? i want to add the serious.wav to sync with the joker pic.

Thanks

chronster 03-12-2009 01:15 PM

Re: Splash screens and startup animations

Guys, you can't simply RENAME a file and expect the new file extension to work! If I renamed blah.png to blah.gif, it won't get opened like before. You have to open this in a program that can not only open blah.png, but also save it as blah.gif (I'm speaking of something like MS paint.)

Perhaps this odd behavior is window's way of compensating for a file it doesn't understand.

jamal33 03-12-2009 01:25 PM

Re: Splash screens and startup animations

thanks chron but i used total commander like others and nothing. I do understand what your saying though.

Re: Splash screens and startup animations

Couple of options: DL the "advanced Config Tool", that will allow you to set those startup files to something else. You can save those files anywhere on your device and just use the tool to point to them instead.

Option 2: send me an e-mail to batmanssf@gmail.com with the files you want to use and exactly how you want it set up, and sometime this even when I get home I will create a cab installer for you (cause I am that awesome) :)

Decided to make a goofy one from one of my ytmnd's:
http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...ngWMKramer.gif

This one loops 4 times, it's been barely optimized, and it's almost 2MB. I don't know if there will be and adverse effects from loading a 2mb gif file at startup. Anyone care to try it?

Hafrust 03-13-2009 10:26 AM

Re: Splash screens and startup animations

Hahaha...that's awesome. I'll try it.

Edit...it took an extra second or two before the gif opened, but it worked. Good for a laugh.

Re: Splash screens and startup animations

Hi I just want to customize my startup animation but I don't have a folder called HTCAniatiom. How can i create it, or can sb send me a registry backup of his folder?

Here the How-To:
Code:

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/HTC/HTCAnimation
Edit the value StartupWav (by default, it's the BootUpHTC.wav file, located in \Windows) for sound
Edit the value StartupGif (by default, it's the animated.gif file, located in \Windows) for animation

Thanks in advance

As I'm too lazy to think of any ideas.

Be sure to resave these files as welcomehead.192.png then drop them in your windows folder.

If I send you a christian picture can you make it into a splash and put my lettering to it ?
