Vertus Fluid Mask. It's a plug-in for PS and a standalone app that you'll love for cut outs. I can cut out and entire person in a matter of 2 minutes if that.

Nice job on the ones you done though. Definetly not knocking those :)

*edit* ok I figured out the name of the file (splash_218x170_a.png) but I don't know how to load a portrait and landscape version, so I modified these (see attachment) to work in portrait or landscape... just overwrite the existing splash_218x170_a.png file in the windows directory

here is the splat.wav I'm using with RangerPain's apple_squish.gif... It is timed perfect on my phone.. But since some phones boot faster than others, it may or may not be in sync on other phones...

n00b here, I was able to replace the welcomehead.192 with the joker one, but I can't for the life of me get the apple squisher to work. I want to replace the Sprint animation with that one. I'm running stock sprint rom on my TP, anything I'm missing?

There are 2 ways to do it.

1. just rename the file to "Startup_640x480.gif" and drop into the Windows folder on your device. Then restart it. You will lose the original file though.

2. the second option is to modify your registry to point to the new file.

here is the registry location where you indicate the file you wanna use.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation]
"GifSpeed"=dword:00000040
"ShutDownWav"=""
"ShutDownGif"="\\Windows\\animated_HTC.gif"
"ShutDownAsStartup"=dword:00000000
"StartupWav"=""
"StartupGif"="\\Windows\\Startup_640x480.gif"

Change "StartupGif"="\\Windows\\Startup_640x480.gif" to the path of the file you wanna use. Save your changes and reboot your device.

Ok, I recommend you use method #1. Just make sure you backup your original .gif file before dropping the newly renamed file into your Windows folder.

I use Advanced Config and it works perfectly for me.

i did pull up advanced config and settings are the same as well but still not workin.....hhhmmmm...any other suggestions

henbone11 01-09-2009 11:30 AM

Re: Splash screens and startup animations

Advanced config didnt work for me either. I would set the path but it would never show on startup. I renamed the startup animation to Startup_640x480.gif then put it in the Windows folder. Then I went into the registry and made sure that it pointed to the Windows folder and the Startup_640x480.gif file. Works like a charm now.

if you used ppckitchen to cook your rom, and did not include startup animation oem, nothing will display, just a note for some

Thanks,

In the registry you can point it to where you have it.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation]
"GifSpeed"=dword:00000040
"ShutDownWav"=""
"ShutDownGif"="\\Windows\\animated_HTC.gif"
"ShutDownAsStartup"=dword:00000000
"StartupWav"=""
"StartupGif"="\\Windows\\Startup_640x480.gif"

Change "StartupWav"="" to the path of the file you wanna use. Save your changes and reboot your device.

actually it will work like that just fine. I copied the same file size that my original welcomehead file was. It stretches just right to fit the screen, give it a try

I have noticed the same thing. It seems to automatically size the pics.

Mine actually varies - i think its dependent on how fast your phone loads. When I first did it, it would splat before the HTC symbol even came down. After a couple of resets, its working great now.

Heck, i reset it just so I can see it now!!!

thats what mine does tried a couple resets still does it...not a real big concern i have just wasnt sure if it was a bug...makes sense though about how fast the phone loads...mine take a lil bit to load

try these... the higher the number the longer the splat sound delay, and like Insatiable said, try a few soft resets to see what works best... the original splat wav would be 679
