HTC Touch Pro - broken after 5 days.

There is a little trigger/sensor where you put the stylus in... connected by some very flimsy cheap plastic. Broken.

I guarantee this is going to be #1 failure component on these things.

*** UPDATE 12/25/2008 (same as post #20) :

So here's the problem....

1. Pull the stylus from your phone.
2. Make sure your sensor rocker switch is up.
3. Hold phone with power button towards your chest looking down on the sensor rocker switch...
4. Looking at it from this angle, the TOP part of my rocker switch is up.

This is the second phone I received like this, however my friends has the BOTTOM part of his rocker switch up. This is a critical assembly flaw.

Question: Which way is your rocker switch "ramp" facing?

If you can take a picture, that would be even better!

When I put my stylus in.... I am jamming against the wrong side of the ramp, like this:
-----stylus--> |\ <--sensor "ramp"

When my friend puts his in, he is going up the correct side of the ramp, smoothly depressing the sensor on the way in, like this:

----stylus-->/| <--- sensor "ramp"

All I can say is, you might consider this when buying your HTC touch Pro. I've seen 2 out of 3 with the part presumably being put on backwards.

HEY! You do not complain about the TOUCH! Maybe you should stop jamming YOUR stylus in that hole!

I have to be honest, I don't even know what you're talking about. I pull my stylus out all the time and i've dropped my phone on the cement numerous times and nothing has broken except the chipped chrome on my phone. I feel the stylus hole is very sturdy. I believe it must just be your phone.

I actually use my stylus alot, and mine is still fine.

u realize the stylus gets sucked up by the magnet, so u prob broke it by getting a lil too excited and jamming it up there even tho it's not necessary at all.
sorry, but its a $600 phone, treat it like one.

Guarantee huh? You're the first to "report" of this issue........ several months after its release.

Yup, better start a class action lawsuit.

Sorry your phone broke dude. I have read these forums since the TP came out and only read a few posts about this problem. I use my stylus a lot and have not had any problems. Time will tell how it holds up.....

All I can say is... "You'll see"

Parts like that have MTBF under normal wear/tear. Maybe I jammed, maybe it was defective. If I jammed it, it was because poor design/placement of the part led to the failure. A user should not be able to break something like that in under a week.

It might take 2000 insertions before yours breaks... but remember this thread.

The problem is the sensor/plastic lever is right there where you would be poking around to find the hole -- take a look and see for yourself. They should have put it at the end of the hole, or in the middle even. Dumb.

If nothing else, view this thread as a warning to be extra careful when inserting your stylus.

Re: HTC Touch Pro - broken after 5 days.

i've always been able to get it in the hole in one try :)

but seriously this thread title was misleading... i was expecting to see "black screen of death!"
i wouldnt call a broken sensor caused by force... a broken touch pro
hope u have tep or r within ur 30 days tho
