Speaker Volume Defect?

I bought a Touch Pro from best buy a few days ago and I could barely hear anything in calls with the phone to my ear. All other volume (speakerphone, music, etc) was fine.

I tried the fixes here:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...=41385&page=29

While it helped, the volume still isn't acceptable.

Is this a regular problem of the phone or did I receive a defect? Any suggestions on how to fix it or should I just return the phone?

Seems like the phone also heats up more than it should. It was incredibly warm after just a 15 minute phone conversation. It tends to warm up when I have it plugged into the USB as well.

thanks.
